It was exactly what you need if you’re looking to get away for a few nights and just relax. The lodge was perfect size as well.

I do think the decking area should have a back fence just for more privacy but apart from that it was great.

My wife has terminal cancer and became extremely unwell the last day of our stay and the staff/ owner's went out of there way to help us I can't thank them enough they are such lovely people thank you Paul and Lesley Zen lodge

Feature bathroom was really nicely decorated and looked fantastic. Compact but fully functional kitchen, managed to cook decent meals within the limited space. Quiet area surrounded by woods. Staff helpful with replacing broken toaster. Nice enough but just felt like some necessities were missing that we've had in other similarly priced lodges

Because the feature bathroom takes up so much space there's no living room area which we knew before we went, discovered on arrival though that there's nowhere to store clothes so we had to live out of our suitcases for the whole time we were there. The photograph of the hot tub on the listing isn't accurate of the space behind the property, there are fence panels either side of the small decking but no back panel as shown in the picture so anyone walking past (workmen building new lodges and housekeeping) can look right into the decking and lodge. The decking itself is tiny, enough space for the hot tub, 2 chairs and a table and we had to hang all of our wet swimwear and towels on the fence panels as there's no laundry facilities even though it's self catering lodges. WiFi connection was terrible, had to use my phone as a hotspot all week to connect the TV to a network or use the internet outside

property had great space and facilities were on the most part great. the toaster didn’t work and there was a bulb out in the bedroom area. There was nowhere to eat properly as you had a coffee table and small “sofa” which was more like a garden bench with fabric. We sat on the floor for breakfast/ lunch and dinner around the coffee table.

The bathroom smelled of damp as there is no ventilation in the room unless you open the windows where other residence could then walk past and see in. This didn’t effect the overall use as it was a great set up just a little disappointing. There was a Maintenon man appeared at the back of the property about 9:30 am to maintain the chemical levels in the hot tub which I think is a great idea but as we were unaware of this the guy got a great view of me sat in nothing but pants. The rear of the property isn’t very private at all as we had a few couples exploring the woods walking past us sat in the hot tub. we also kept the curtains closed most of the time after these experiences on the first day so didn’t get to enjoy much of the view from inside.

The hot tub was excellent. It was consistently running meaning we could access it whenever. The bed was comfortable. the kitchen was well equipped for all of our needs. we brought stuff just in case but ended up not needing to use any of it.

The shower drain was clogged. The lodges are all connected meaning that you can hear your neighbours through the wall. this was frustrating as some neighbours have dogs constantly barking or are playing music. It was rather difficult to sleep at night due to this.

Great location with loads of walks round the area we could take to tire out our spaniel, good sized & comfortable room with smart TV & free WiFi, nice & clean, peaceful & quiet - didn’t hear anything from other guests while we were there other than the odd door closing, hot tub was great, huge bath, shower is powerful, (mostly) has everything you’ll need for your stay - kitchen has 2 of everything like plates, cutlery, bowls, mugs, a frying pan & pot, toaster, oven/grill/microwave. Really relaxing & excellent place to totally escape for a few days!

Bathroom smelled quite damp, not sure if this was because of the stones on the floor. Would be nice to have the basics in the lodge such as a sponge to wash dishes and some coffee/tea, foil for the oven trays that kind of thing. We had to bring everything which wasn’t the worst thing but would just be good to have very basic things provided. There’s also no storage for your clothes so you’ll need to live out your case when you’re there. Would also prefer to have the restaurant/bar open, even if you just got one pre booked slot per lodge so it’s not causing the hotel to waste money. I understand it isn’t busy but given there’s nowhere else to go for food/drink in Kirkmichael it would be nice to have the option to go if you visit during the week.
