Such a special place to stay in Ella. The room was perfect, a whole house to yourself with privacy in nature. The building itself is beautifully designed and decorated. The pool and sunbed areas were super private and comfortable. The location is a really short and beautiful walk to main town in Ella, the retreat also offers a free tuktuk into town! First of all they arranged pick up from Colombo airport, the driver, Denis was great! We asked him to stop off for something to eat and he took us to an amazing restaurant, we chose to go the route off the highway and it was a really beautiful scenic drive, Denis havw us information on the towns we passed through and also stopped off at view points! A great welcome to Sri Lanka. The staff really made the place special, they go above and beyond to make sure every need is met! So kind and organised all the activity’s we wanted to do. The cooking class was incredible, the chef took his time to explain the recipes and can’t wait to try them back home! We also climbed Ella rock with a tour guide booked by the retreat, he was super friendly and kept up with our ability, stopped when we needed and didn’t feel rushed was super comfortable hike up thanks to our guide! Finally we ended our retreat in the on-site spa facility, full body massage, oil treatment and steam bath. Breakfast lunch and dinner all ordered from Arawe was the best food we have had on our 6 month travels! Perfectly cooked and all on time, again the staff put so much care into making sure we were comfortable. I couldn’t recommend Arawe Retreat more. A great start to our trip in Sri Lanka. The setting speaks for itself and the whole team are a credit to the hotel! Thank you so much for having us Arawe!

The cottage was surrounded by greenery. Excellent bird watching from the verandah.

The villa was in a beautiful setting. It was about 10 minutes walk to the main road.

Never had enough hot water for 4 adults. It would have been nice if they provided fresh clean towels each day.

I loved it all

I've really loved staying at Arawe Retreat. The accomodation was superlative, tastefully decorated, we had an entire two-floors villa for us with an incredible view on the inner jungle. The service was flawless, we asked for both dinner and breakfast at the villa and they came to cook for us, food was excellent. We had also a beautiful massage at the spa and for the first time we've tried the traditional steam bath, it was amazing. And plus, they have a beautiful cat called Mali, the cutest cat in the world:) My only regret is we didn't spend more time there. Highly recommended! A big thank you to the whole team.
