So beautifully presented and incredible location!

Nothing to not like!

We absolutely adored our stay at Arawe. The accommodation itself was stunning, so comfortable and beautifully decorated with incredible views over the property and beyond. The service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. The cooking class and spa treatment were both unforgettable. Arawe is a true gem, and we couldn’t recommend it any higher!

Breakfast was incredible! The chef is a magician! We did a cooking class with him and he’s brilliant. Learnt a lot and the flavors! Just wow, so so so good. We had a wonderful stay, the staff were lovely, the place was gorgeous. Just such a treat, a wonderful place to stay. Yes it’s pricey but totally worth it!

Amazing rooms very nicely done, with great views of nature. Short tuk tuk ride to the Main Street (less than 5 mins). We had 2 double room villas- the big villa had great outdoor space and fully equipped kitchen, where the staff were preparing yummy breakfast. Just be aware that there are two friendly dogs and a cat in the hotel, that our kids loved.

We had two villas, on each side of the rice paddy and the path connecting them through the rice paddy was beautiful but very natural and may be hard with mobility issues.

We would like to thank all the staff. We had a wonderful stay. The luxury consisted of the great breakfast and the warmth of everyone on the premises. Our son really enjoyed the two dogs and the cat. We felt completely at home and very well looked after. We particularly recommend a treatment in the hotel's own lovingly designed spa.

For some, the location may be a little too noisy, as street noise is clearly audible in the small cottage. It should also be noted that passing trains make noise. But for us, this was part of the full enjoyment of Ella, and we would recommend embracing this audible life.

This was the place I loved most on our trip!! I wholeheartedly and warmly recommend it. There’s a peace and quiet here that we didn’t experience anywhere else. I woke up in the morning and took a yoga class by the rice fields, under trees where monkeys jump and birds sing. We booked the cooking class (2 adults + 3 kids ages 3–8) — the food was the best we had in Sri Lanka!!! The hotel is a 5-minute tuk-tuk ride from the town center — close enough to get there easily, yet far enough to enjoy the tranquility and escape the noise and music from the restaurants. One of the staff members took him on a day trip to the Ella waterfalls. He was such a lovely guy — patient and a true gentleman. He guided us to waterfalls we probably wouldn’t have found on our own. The kids connected with him so much and had such a great time that they even wanted to invite him for ice cream afterwards. There were many more services the place offers that we didn’t get the chance to try. Ella is an amazing place to spend a few days, and this is a hotel I’d happily return to.

Everything about our stay was enjoyable, the delicious breakfasts, the peaceful nature of our room, the friendliness of the staff and the close location to Ella with free tuktuk rides into the town when needed.

Arawe Retreat was an incredible place to stay, a hidden Gem only a few minutes out of Ella town, but the stunning hotel surrounds make you feel so relaxed and calm. We stayed in the cottage which was beautiful furnished and very comfortable. The dinner and breakfasts were so delicious and the best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka, compliments to the chef! The new Ayurvedic centre was lovely and we loved chatting to the onsite doctor and amazing massage therapy. It was great to visit the macrame workshop they have onsite too. A big thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so memorable, we didn’t want to leave! A shout out to Latha the cat & the dogs for always keeping us entertained.
