"A gem on the gem of Stewart Island."

This small boutique hotel is a gem. Sat just above the bay great views from our room and a very short walk to the harbour and facilities. The owners Deanne and Chris really looked after us and the food was exceptional. A welcoming Alfie the dog was just an extra bonus!

Amazing location with extremely high standard of fittings. We had both dinner and breakfast prepared by the owners who are qualified chefs, again a high standard. Chris took us for a tiki tour around the island. Would highly recommend

"Quiet and delightful"

The owners, Deanne and Chris, were wonderful hosts. The lodge has 3 modern and spacious cottages with view of the harbor. They were well furnished, clean, and our bed was very comfortable. The water pressure of the shower was one of the best ever encountered in a hotel on our many travels. We had 3 dinners at the lodge and they were excellent and beautifully presented.

"Stewart Island's best-kept secret"

An exceptional property, managed by a caring, lovely, smart and talented couple. Perched on the hillside overlooking Halfmoon Bay, this lovely boutique lodge features by-far the best food and rooms on Stewart Island. This was our 2nd stay here, and it was even better than we remembered. All of the rooms are modern, extremely well-appointed, and have fern-framed views of the harbour, and the beds are wonderful. You'll be amazed by the quality and imagination of the meals as well as the extensive wine list and whiskey/spirits/apertif choices-- Deanne is a fabulous chef, and photographer! Chris is knowledgeable, warm, interesting and kindly willing to transport guests from the SI ferry or airport to the Lodge, and to the Ulva Island ferry dock or tracks. We love visiting here... there's nothing like it!
