"Amazing island retreat"

This lodge is exceptional. It is so well appointed and has everything you would ever need to hand. We were collected from the ferry by Chris, who is front of house, then met Deanne who does all the cooking. The lodge had a lovely island outlook, perfect bedding and bathroom with lovely touches like home baking. Quiet and very private. The dinners and breakfasts were amazing. Perfect presentation, great choices, local produce- just wonderful. Deanne even gave me one of her recipes! Nothing was too much trouble. This was the perfect place to stay and eat on Stewart Island

We enjoyed our stay here so much. We were thoroughly spoilt by Deanne's incredible gourmet cooking and baking and everything we needed or wanted was catered for by Chris and Deanne. The room was beautiful and comfortable, and the view just gorgeous. Stewart Island is stunning and we're so glad we visited and stayed here at Church Hill for our special anniversary. Thank you Deanne and Chris!

Chris and Deanne were so professional in what they do and making sure the guests feels good and eat good. Deanne is such a fantastic cook and Chris is funny and super approachable and friendly and brought us round the island as introduction out of goodwill. Whenever we need help or a ride, we just have to give either of them a call and they’ll come pick us up! Such gestures really warm the cockles of our hearts!

Minor feedback - a bit more selection for breakfast and dinner would be good.
