Cave Lodge

Incredible spot, wonderful staff, great food - a truly unique guest house with a wild history and some once in a lifetime tours on offer.

One Word fantastic!!

The place has its vibe which we love and to large extent retains the atmosphere it had 15 years ago. You will get the most value participating on the numerous trips organized by Cave Lodge. E.g. we took the half-day kayaking trip exploring Tham Lod and Hair cave which we would never find ourselves. The river in late December was pretty fun with something like class II/III rapids which is fun for the whole family, yet safe (each of us had our own guide on the 2-seat kayak). Great value for money.

The rooms are fairly simple with little comfort. It can get quite cold in December and noisy (especially in the morning when the birds wake up). Given the remote location better come with own car/motorbike.

I booked this location based on advice from other travelers if you don't fancy Pai. But the Cave Lodge is very nice if you want a quiet location. I was there for NYE2025 and for an additional 250 baht they had access to food, drink, fireworks, and got a gift too! There's only wifi in the common area which is fine as well as a kitchen for meals with info on activities in the area. There's also a truck that goes out for sunrise at 6 am, but ask. The family runs well and is great for a chilled-out place. I will visit again on my next trip to Northern Thailand.

No much to not like, unless you don't prefer a forest/jungle area. I would say having transport is helpful such as a 150cc motorbike or more.

Everyone and everything were beyond good.

Cave lodge is just pure pleasure. Its location is just stunning and the food options are impressive. There are options for activities although we were only there for one night. Super close to Tham Lod cave and watching the swifts and bats!

Beds are firm by my UK standards but pretty normal for Thailand

Great location, nice atmosphere. Really authentic en cool place.

Most of the excursions had a minimum requirement of people and are therefore hard or impossible to book.
