Quirky Woods - Glamping Cabins at Maketu

The happiest thing for me about staying here is that the host couple are incredibly kind and warm-hearted. Their service is thoughtful and attentive — they even made sure we had plenty of hot water for showers. The scenery here is absolutely picturesque, and the whole place feels like a hidden paradise. The couple run this lovely place together as a small family business. The kitchen is well equipped, and the environment feels like living in nature itself. They have three chickens and many other little animals. At night, you can even hear owls, which makes it feel as if you’re sleeping in a forest. There are several cozy little cabins, and although the room itself is small, the shared facilities outside are spacious and complete. The bed is very comfortable, and the host even prepared electric blankets and heaters in every room, which made us feel truly warm and cared for. Every cabin is beautifully built — you can tell how capable and hardworking the couple are. They’re a harmonious pair who never argue, and they’re always friendly and helpful whenever you need anything. This place is just stunning — it exceeded all my expectations! The only small downside is that the driveway at the entrance is quite steep. My friend isn’t very confident with driving, and when he was leaving, his car slipped a bit because the gravel path only has two narrow tire tracks with grass in between and on both sides. So it can be a little tricky if you’re not careful. At first, the location might seem hard to find since it’s not directly by the main street, but if you follow the gravel road a bit further down, you’ll discover this beautiful hidden paradise waiting for you.

I absolutely loved everything about Quirky Woods. It's clear to see how much love and effort Charlotte and Simon have put into their land and the experience. Everything was clean and there are many options on how you want to cook your meal. Simon gave some great recommendations on attractions to visit. All in all,.Quirky Woods is now one of my favorite stays in NZ. Unique, peaceful, and highly recommend. Thank you both.

Idyllic setting.pleasant hosts and will make it our place to stay when visiting Maketu.

The location was beautiful, the cabin was clean and comfortable, the host was great. Can't complain about anything.
