Fatumaru Lodge

The view was lovely and so was the room. We loved the little outside kitchen/bar and we all loved taking the kayaks out for a paddle around the bay. It was so close to the airport. Very convenient, ye didn't feel like it was right on the road.

There was a bit of confusion with breakfast. The lady didn't understand the changes and the breakfast was a little ordinary.

I loved the room and the view! The facilities were an absolute bonus

Great property direct access to the water. Easy to get around with the local buses. Comfy beds and good shower. We enjoyed the free use of the kayaks

Air can did not work- very hot without it. Not very clean, bathroom stunk of sewage and ants everywhere

The location of the lodge is what makes it tick. It has beautiful views, easy access to the beach, a picturesque pier and is a 5 minute walk to the centre of the city. That I'm afraid is where all the good things end.

The entirety of the lodge has a very DIY feel to it. Whilst I understand that Vanuatu is in the middle of a rebuild after the earthquake, most "acceptable" facilities within the lodge are in various states of disrepair. Our AC didn't work throughout and it was unacceptable with all the heat and humidity. The refrigerator leaked and the microwave had instructions in Chinese. Our neighbors TV didn't work, alongside their outdoor lights and we had old school, smoky mosquito coils as a solution to the mosquitoes bothering us. There was no shampoo, nor body wash (with a weird all in one solution provided instead) and we had 100ml of milk provided once. The electric kettle was dirty and there wasn't enough cutlery to even eat instant noodles. The bathroom and it's design deserves its own paragraph. A single shower and the entirety of the bathroom turns into a pool. Surely a shower curtain could solve this problem? The shower handle in our room had undecipherable mood swings and the taps needed maintenance.
