Great location, beautiful rooms, clean and spacious. Breakfast is really good

Cannot fault the room. Great views over the surrounding forest. The food on our second night was really good.

The price of everything. Add 20% tax. 15k for a can of beer. 12k for the worst rhum arrangé we tasted in Madagascar. It's not a remote location so no excuse. Seems to be a favourite of high end American tour groups. They also don't feed drivers (chauffeur) 😒

Food is ok, but not more

It’s a really beautiful hotel, the rooms have an incredible view, and there’s a great shower that always has hot water. The swimming pool is also super lovely - I would definitely recommend allocating a bit of time to hang out here and not spend all your time out of the hotel hiking. The restaurant, especially for dinner, is excellent. And unlike many places - there’s WiFi in the rooms!

I was really surprised to find that breakfast was not included in our rate, which wasn’t exactly cheap. It seems quite sneaky to add breakfast as an extra charge in a hotel of this level, especially when there is no reasonable expectation of having breakfast anywhere but the hotel (it’s on the top of a hill). Also, the breakfast itself was a bit meagre even compared to standard breakfasts in other hotels (eg no pastries and only very basic bread). This is surprising from a place that can deliver such an excellent dinner service. Otherwise we had some stuff on the final bill which we did not order. There was a hurried apology and they fixed the bill.

Rooms were finished to a high standard and the restaurant food was excellent! The staff were very friendly and helpful and we loved the setting looking over the rainforest. The guide linked to the hotel (sorry - I forgot his name) was very knowledgable and organised for his brother to take us to Mantadia National Park - this was excellent and one of the highlights of our trip as we were privileged enough to spend time with 3 different types of lemurs - there were no other tourists and we were able to watch them for some time without them being scared away. We also saw lemurs at Analamazotra National Park (which I would also recommend visiting) but these encounters were cut short by many tourists not respecting them and shouting and screaming. The night hike with the guide was also excellent.

We had not organised this trip as part of a tour and booked this ourselves. I don’t think the hotel is used to that - when we arrived, the staff at the hotel couldn’t give us information about how best to spend our time there in terms of visiting the national parks. They were able to put us in touch with their guide who was great in explaining this but this took some persuasion on our part (when we contacted the hotel before arrival, they advised we could book tours upon arrival, however upon arrival, they said that we could not book through them and would need to speak to their guide the following morning - he was fully booked but luckily was able to put us in touch with his brother who was free (and had an excellent eye for wildlife spotting). As the hotel did not organise any excursions, we had to pay for them all in cash which wouldn’t have been a problem if we had known in advance - as the hotel said they could book on arrival we did not realise this would not be payable on card and we did not have enough Malagasy Airary. There was no way of changing cash in the local village. This meant having to pay in euros at a very poor exchange rate.

Positive, caring and lovely staff, such nice people! The location is exceptional, the pool breathtaking, the massages wonderful. Very tasty meals at the beautiful restaurant.
