The location, comfortable bed and it was clean. The wildlife was amazing, listening to Darwin’s frogs, watching dolphins, sea lions and eagles within 2 minutes from the accommodation was amazing.

We had booked a cabin with a sea view, whilst the cabin was close by, it wasn’t the one we had booked based on the description and photos. The one we had booked was empty so I’m unsure why we couldn’t stay there. For some reason you’re not allowed to cook dinner though you can cook breakfast if you want. There was a comunal kitchen area with very basic facilities. It’s more like a very basic hostel than a cabin. If you want to cook forget this place, also the restaurants in Chaitén aren’t great so if cooking and eating are important then this place isn’t for you. The owner is also building more ‘cabins’ so there is a lot of building work going on, with building materials lying around, a young lad with a wheelbarrow carrying corrugated steel manoeuvred very close to our hire truck almost tipping it over, thankfully no harm done but it wasn’t ideal. The heating is a calor gas fire with a gas bottle, we were concerned about possible carbon monoxide as the accommodation only had a tiny vent. Also, the shower accumulated water so the owner wanted daily access to drain it, though he did offer for us to swap cabins as we were there for 3 nights. Finally, if you’re paying in USD, ensure the notes are new, banks don’t accept them if there are any marks on them so understandably Hector wouldn’t accept some of the notes which we had changed in the Uk. If you want basic facilities with peace, nature and amazing wildlife views then this is for you, otherwise maybe find something else.

There are no facilities. Even not a way to make cofee. There is no wifi and not a cellular reception.

The location was outstanding. Took seconds to walk to our own beach overlooking passing dolphins, whales and sea-lions. Although the nights were cold, our host Héctor was brilliant at keeping us topped up with wood for our stove. Cosy and unique. Mafalda, the gorgeous dog, was also a brilliant host! Would certainly return if we visited the area again.

You couldn’t really make breakfast with the equipment provided but we were given a pan on request.

Absolute stunning location, amazing owner! He is in the process of building a communal area/kitchen for all the self catering guests which should be finished in the next week. Saw dolphins and seals swimming by on our doorstep ❤️
