The Beachaven Chalets, Kota Belud

Het is een prachtige locatie en heerlijk om met elkaar even helemaal remote te zitten. Je kan leuk snorkelen en er zijn vaak prachtige zonsondergangen. Onze kinderen leefden zich helemaal uit met krabben zoeken, zandkastelen bouwen en zwemmen en nog eens zwemmen. Ja er is af en toe geen stroom, dus neem een hoofdlampje mee. Op het puntje van het strand heb je wel (telefoon)verbinding, fijn als het nodig is. Heel lief personeel en eigenaren!

Ga hier niet heen als je een hekel hebt aan honden, echt zijn het super lieve beestjes en waren onze kinderen er dol mee!

Mel and Natasha are great hosts. I would certainly recommend the secluded Beachaaven chalet if you are up for an adventure. They cooked us things that we went and bought in the market. The beautiful seafront is a step out of the chalet. Ask Mel to drop you off on the island infront where you could do snorkelling and kayak. It's 5 min boat ride from the chalet. They are very accommodative to your needs. Below items need attention : 1. The chalet is secluded 5 minutes boat ride from the shore. The boat is a dingy and if you are worried about sea then you need to ask for life jackets. 2. You need to pay attention to the time of arrival in Kota Belud jetty as it is 2 / 3 hours drive from kota Kinabalu. The tide is key because it might be that the time you arrive it's low tide and you need to carry the luggages to the boat walking on the shore. It is also not suitcase friendly unless you ready to carry it. 3. Avoid night flights or after 6pm arrival at the jetty. It was pitch dark and there are no lights. Luckily it was full moon and we had clear visibility. 4. As it is secluded place there is no electricity in the chalet. There is only a fan for the night. Bring a power bank or ask Natasha to charge the phone. 5. Internet connection is not available. You might get some network if you are near the seafront. 6. There are sand flies, recommend bringing sand fly spray. 7. Food and drinks are basic. However, Mel and Natasha cooked us food that we requested. We did the above with 3 kids 2-4 years + 2 children and 4 adults.

A beautiful, idyllic little beach with cute bungalows and outdoor bathrooms. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious! A lovely place to relax, accessible only by boat.

Had the most amazing 3 days here. Natasha and her husband are excellent hosts and the food was delicious. No electricity which meant no phones and just the beach and sea to entertain us. I highly recommend a stay here if you want to switch off and relax.

The location is spectacular. You cannot be closer to the ocean without being on a boat. The chalet was clean but very basic. The resort is solar powered so weather dependent. I suggest taking a torch. And plenty of mozzie protection. There is only internet at various spots on the beach which suited us perfectly as we wanted to cut off from the world. The food was excellent, comprising a set menu of rice with fish, chicken, beef, and local veg. We opted for breakfast and dinners only. Drinks limited to water, tea or coffee and off-cold beer. We hired a double kayak which was in wxcellent condition but recommend taking your own snorkeling gear.

Perfect gateway to nature. Beautiful sandy beach.
