Mao Mao surf

Mooie hut met badkamer eraan vast. De surflessen waren top.

Er waren werkzaamheden aan een nieuw zwembad. Dit was niet van te voren gemeld.

Cucina incredibile, location ottima per chi non vuole la classica camera di Albergo. Pulizia perfetta, lavaggi e cambi di vestiti disponibili, proprietari accoglienti ed estremamente disponibili. Potete presentarvi senza nessuna idea di come organizzare la vacanza e vi aiuteranno in tutto. TOP

Prachtige hutjes die zeer comfortabel zijn, zeer handig en sfeervol ingericht , zeer proper en wordt dagelijks gepoetst, zeer vriendelijke jongen van de receptie

De keuze om hier te verblijven is gevallen na heel lang vergelijken van reviews, foto's, aanbevelingen in reisgidsen etc. We hoopten in een klein, cosy paradijsje te belanden maar helaas toen we toekwamen, leek het terrein een bouwwerf. Ze waren pas gestart met het bouwen van een zwembad, waardoor het terrein tussen de huisjes 1 grote bouwput was. De werken waren blijkbaar onverwachts vervroegd maar we konden onze teleurstelling niet wegsteken. De eigenaars hebben zich uitgebreid verontschuldigd en boden ons gratis ontbijt aan ter compensatie tijdens ons verblijf. We mochten ook kostenloos annuleren en elders iets zoeken maar aangezien het al donker werd, we de omgeving nog niet kenden en geen zin hadden in een holderdebolder nieuwe zoektocht naar een ander verblijf gingen we akkoord met het gratis ontbijt. Het ontbijt was super en zeker een mooi gebaar. We blijven het wel jammer vinden dat we van de werken niet op de hoogte gesteld werden voor aankomst. Bij de aankomst zelf sta je dan voor een voldongen feit (en is de kans uiteraard kleiner dat je zal verlopen van hotel). De hutjes en het ontbijt waren gelukkig wel top.  Ook waren we wat ontgoocheld in de scooterverhuur. We boekten speciaal via het hotel om zeker te zijn dat de scooter in orde zou zijn, maar de brommer was oud en versleten, de linkerspiegel was gebroken en viel er plots volledig uit tijdens de 1e kilometer rijden en 's avonds merkten we dat het achterlicht het niet deed. Beide problemen werden gelukkig snel hersteld. Als je dan non stop scooterverhuurbedrijven passeert met superdegelijke, goed onderhouden scooters dan ga je je toch afvragen waarom je bij het hotel hebt geboekt. We hebben na Mao Mao nog 6 keer een scooter gehuurd op andere plaatsen (2 op Siargao en de rest op andere eilanden in de Filipijnen) en die waren allemaal super in orde. Het wordt ongetwijfeld fantastisch wanneer het zwembad is afgewerkt (de werken zouden in principe maar een maand duren)!

Staying at Maomao was a wonderful experience. A warm, welcoming community formed during our stay with other guests, the staff, the surfing instructors and the owners. The huts are clean, free of bugs or other animals. They offer excellent, professional one-on-one surfing lessons and there’s a lovely chill-out area with good music, tasty breakfast and great coffee. We loved every moment and hope to come back again — it was truly hard to leave this place.

Location is very good, close to the city center but far enough from the mess and confusion of the main street. The house is very cosy, confortable and although there is no AC there are lots of fans in the bedroom. Breakfast Menu is amazing and all the options were better than the other. The cafe area was very chill and welcoming to spend free time. The playlist of the cafe is just perfect. Cool vibe. The staff is very friendly, especially Topi.

Sometimes, there was a strong smell of sewage in street. I totally understand it may not be on their hands to control it, but it may be unconfortable sometimes.

We loved our stay at Mao Mao! The huts are beautiful, clean and well equipped with enough space to unpack your bag and storage places. The ensuite bathroom is spacious and clean and we loved the bamboo shower. All staff are super friendly and helpful and thorough instagram dm is was super easy to arrange transportation, surf lessons and other activities. We did multiple surf lessons with the best (and certified) surf instructors. We absolutely had a great time staying here for a week and would love to come back!

Close from restaurants and town, nice vibe.

The huts were super cute and the ensuite bathrooms were a dream. The location on the island is just perfect and the inhouse surflessons are such a great bonus - all surf instructors are super nice and qualified. I really loved my stay (I stayed 8 nights) and would 100% recommend to anyone.

Some downsides: - no AC - the huts are not sound proof, you can quite easily hear your neighbours talk. - the neighbouring property (a restaurant) was located right nextdoor and you could hear that easily
