Mao Mao surf

It is a little paradise. The huts are super confy and designed so beautiful! The surf lessions are very professional. The breakfastarea/hangout area is also really confy and the food defently one of the best breakfasts i ever had! A huge thanks to the whole team who made me feel like home. Special thanks to jane, rain and loyed who looked after me when i got really sick 💜

Lovely beachy vibes, exactly what I expected. Rooms are cute. Location is great.

The beds are quite small for such a hot place with no air con. Also there is no vibe at Mao Mao as the cafe/bar area closes at 3pm!

Ver nice huts, breakfast bar was also very nice. Location was really great, calm but not too far from the important places. Surf classes were great!

We did lose electricity once at night, which makes it really hot too sleep without fan. Unfortunately the reception doesn’t really arrange airport transportation or scooter rental themselves, but they refer to other suppliers.

We were here last year (April 2024) and we fell in love with the place so decided to come back. The charm is still there, the whole place is super pretty. The location is really good, the bathroom/bedroom is very unique and you can really enjoy some amazing breakfast. Also big thanks to the kitchen team and reception for making us feel very welcome.

However, we were a bit disappointed this year. For this price, we expected more compared to other stays in the neighborhood, no improvements were done throughout the year. There is still no airconditioning (only 3 fans but it just doesn’t do the job), the internet in the huts is bad, it only works well in the breakfast area. We stayed for 4 nights and during this time we didn’t have any roomservice, no fresh towels while you’re surfing everyday isn’t a luxury. Everything became more expensive (even though the portions got smaller), the surf lessons, the breakfast bar with extra service charges… it just felt a bit off.

Such cool huts. Beautiful safe location and incredible breakfast. Great fun using the surf gym too. Did a surf lesson with Ryan and he was fantastic. Really boosted my confidence.

We felt the heat but fans cooled us down.

We loved the huts and tropical vibe, the bed was super comfortable and we were cool enough at night with the fans provided. Also super friendly owners who were always available to help with anything we needed, and gave some good local recommendations. The breakfast at the cafe is a standout, food was amazing and well priced. We also enjoyed the surf lesson booked through Mao Mao, and the use of the Surf Gym. Loved the resident pets too!

Just a few minor things that might be helpful to know. The shower doesn’t have much pressure at all (more of a strong trickle) and we had issues with the hot water throughout the stay, but the staff tried to help where they could. The hostel next door can be loud at night, nothing Mao Mao can do about this, but might be helpful to know.

We loved the cute huts! You can tell the owners put in a lot of love and effort into the decorations and general set up of the rooms. The semi-outdoor bathroom is also really cool and very big. Massive shoutout also to the owners and the staff! They were the SWEETEST people. They make you feel so welcome and at home, are always happy to help and have a chat. Special shoutout to the receptionist Rain, who remembered our names from day one and always greeted us with a heartfelt smile. Rain (ironically) certainly boosted our mood while it was raining for 4 days straight (which was our fault because we stayed on Siargao during rainy season). The breakfast served at the adjacent coffee bar is simply divine. Loads of options and so beautifully prepared/decorated. We'll definitely be back :)

The bed is quite small for two people, particularly when you take into account that the huts don't have AC, just fans. When it rains for a longer period everything gets a bit damp inside.
