"Loved the house & the view. Choose a powerful car and dont pick the "quickest route up"."

9.0

Loved the house. We stayed in the one with smaller windows but bigger space. Beds were good, lot of space, a really nicely renovated old wooden house. Nice hosts. Nice view. Overall a great house!

You really need a powetful car and driving experience. The road goes straight uphill. We first had a VW Taigo 1.0 (family of 5) and the car barely made it up once. We directly changed to a 1,6l hyundai tucson the next day and it was less of a problem then. But with a weak car after the first drive up, my wife (sitting next to me) was in complete shock from the experience. Later with a better car and better route choices we got used to it. The drive is the only negative. Also, most importantly, dont take the google maps quickest route and you will most likely be fine. The quickest route is almost straight up the whole way. Take the slower route on a better road, this way you only have to go straight up a couple of times. Overall still recommend it, but choose your route and your car accordingly!

"Marvellous!"

10.0

The place is fascinating if you like country houses located outside the town. You have a lot of space inside (3 bedrooms, each is really spacious; an ample kitchen and a kind of a living room). The kitchen is very well equipped plus it`s very modern. The house is beautifully restored so you have a possibility to indulge with the the ancient, rustic interior of a country house located in a rural area but you can benefit from a very well functioning modern kitchen with all the kitchen utensils as well as use your modern private toilet feeling like at home in a big city. Every day you are woken up by cockerels crowing in the neighbourhood so you feel like in the country (awesome! - I really loved it!). The views are breathtaking - you see the coastline and the contours of the island of Gran Canaria every day. The swimming pool makes it possible to swim or stay in pleasantly warm water (February!) in the morning or in the afternoon. The garden around the house is well-groomed with lemon trees and some other fruit trees (yellow and sweet local fruit - nisperos - in Spanish) whose fruit may be picked and tasted. The representatives of the company taking care of the tenants are very friendly and helpful (thank you Lina:-) thank you Marta:-) - they react very quickly if you have some problem - we had one problem while staying there - the reaction was immediate (on Sunday!) and the problem was solved. We also had a possibility to get to know the owners - Jose Miguel and his wife - very friendly and interesting people - it was very nice to get to know you:-) Thank you!

The way I see it the house is perfect for people who like staying in a rural house while spending there time visiting the island or doing sports during the day and getting back to a quiet retreat in the afternoon/evening. The only aspect which might pose a difficulty for drivers who don`t feel comfortable driving on the steep and curved local roads of Tenerife could be the access road from the motorway - it`s steep and a lot depends on the power of your vehicle - anyhow, even if it`s week (which was our case) - you keep moving in the second gear and in case of problems you switch to the first. Anyhow, it`s possible to use roads which are less steep and beautiful on either side of the motorway (using a wider road earlier from the direction of the airport (exit 35 - las Eras) or from the directyion of Santa Cruz (exit 32 - los Roques) - if you find the shortest access road to steep after you`ve taken it once, use either of the two alternatives - it`s going to take you only a few minutes more and driving will be easier. The last 300 metres you need to cover from the centre of the village of La Zarza can be covered using two roads as well - one from the very centre of the village (nice local restaurant by the way) and one more to the west (some 200 metres) which is maybe a litlle less steep. There is ample parking space in the street and the neighbours are friendly and willing to talk. I used Spanish at every step so I don`t know if the neighbours speak English, anyhow. I recommend the place and am perfectly satisfied with our stay at that house - all my family loved it (the house itself, the garden, the yard, the pool and the views).
