Villa Socrates

Great position and views. Very quiet and peaceful. Pool and gardens are beautiful. Lovely at night when the garden smells wonderful. The whole villa has been finished perfectly and it is really comfortable. Linda and David made our stay amazing. Lovely beach (Mounda) a very short drive (or a good walk) away. Skala a short drive away with a huge range of restaurants and shops. Strong recommend!

No complaints at all - it was perfect. Would be good for both couples or families. Ask Linda for a table in Galera in Skala (where she is chef) - you won’t regret it!

Everything was wonderful. On booking I was asked to put down a deposit via bank transfer but I didn't feel comfortable doing that. David told me not a problem bc my stay was only a few days away. Now that I know I would have no issues putting down the deposit. David and his father had even stocked the fridge with multiple bottles of water, soda, a variety of fruits, AND ham/ cheese/ bread. Also, oil/ vinegar/ spices, and laundry and washing liquids were provided.

Amazing views , lovely pool and BBQ area , loads of outdoor space . Very well equipped and generous welcome pack on arrival . Excellent communication from owner , nothing was too much trouble . Went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and accommodated our late departure request.

Our only minor comments would be - only hand held shower so a hook would be good and poor lighting in kitchen .

We absolutely LOVED this villa. It is definitely the nicest villa we have stayed in and it will be hard to beat for future holidays. The view from the terrace and pool area is simply stunning. There are plenty of outdoor seating options available and the infinity pool gave us lots of fun and relaxing swims. We had many meals at the villa as David and his family had left us plenty of fruit and vegetables (grown on site) which lasted almost the entire week. The rooms and beds were all very comfy, especially the top room with its amazing view and the air conditioning helped with the warm nights! The closest beach is a 3 minute drive away , known as Mounda Beach, was lovely and sandy with shallow water, perfect for kids. We absolutely loved Tartarooga Beach Bar here for cocktails and our final dinner at sunset. We also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of Skala beach and town. It's a small town but there are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from plus water sports, and it was a great place to snorkel too. This beach is made up of fine stones and gets deep quickly. You'll need to hire a car to make the most of this villa and the beautiful island of Kefalonia. We definitely hope to return one day and can highly recommend Villa Socrates (and it's hosts) to anyone wanting to stay on the south of the island.

Villa Socrates is easily the best villa we have stayed in in Greece. Extremely spacious and well appointed, almost everything was as we'd hoped it would be or better. The interior is beautifully decorated and well appointed with everything we needed for our stay (towels - which were changed mid-week - even an ice-crushing freezer!). The outdoor space is huge and well thought out, the gardens well kept and the infinity pool absolute perfect. The view is stunning and the short drive up to the property is easy from the main road to Skala. David was very attentive and waited until late for us with the keys, and had no issue with us staying late on our day of departure which I'm sure can't happen overtime but was nevertheless very much appreciated, as was the welcome pack of local produce, wine and beer! We had a wonderful holiday on a simply stunning island. We found the best snorkeling was at Porto Skala Beach 10 mins from the villa (never seen so many fish!), while the best moussaka was at Kaliva, again in Skala, absolutely lovely! If you want to see Turtles go to Agostoli harbor in the morning. Will definitely return to Villa Socrates, hopefully next year!

The only minor suggestion we have is a hook on the bathroom walls so you don't have to hold the showerheads whilst showering! Other than that it's perfect!

Absolutely everything! This is hands down the best villa that I have had the pleasure to stay at. ( and I have stayed at quite a few in years).. Stunning views, exceptionally clean, the owners have gone out of their way to make this stay one I could have ever hoped for. They are friendly and accommodating and go the extra mile to make your stay memorable and stressless. I will be sad to leave but I know without a doubt that I will return. This is the best value for money that I have spent on a holiday. I won't lie the road that leads to it is a little bumpy. But the views are well worth it. As I type this I know that the next thing I do will be to book in again for September. You will love this hidden little gem.
