The Aruna Villa by Purely

The property itself was quite good. It was separate from the main house, which was a plus. Since we had booked both rooms, we had the pool entirely to ourselves, which was great from a privacy perspective. The property was also clean, which added to the overall positive experience. Breakfast was good as well when available.

There were several aspects of the property that we didn’t like. 1. Location: The location was a major disappointment. The path leading to the property was terrible, and there was ongoing construction, which made it even worse. We ended up wasting a lot of time just traveling to and from the property. Additionally, many cab drivers refused to enter due to the narrow road leading to the property. 2. Privacy Issues with the Pool: While it was fine for us since we had booked both rooms, the pool would be shared if two separate families rented the apartments. This could cause privacy concerns for others. 3. Lizards in the Rooms: There were lizards inside the rooms, and despite our requests, the staff couldn’t completely address the issue. We eventually had to accept it as it was. 4. Hot Water: The availability of hot water was inconsistent. After one or two people showered, we had to wait for the water to heat up again, which was inconvenient. 5. TV Issues: The TV wasn’t working during our stay. The cable wasn’t functioning, so we couldn’t use it at all. 6. Outdoor Cleanliness: The general cleanliness outside the rooms was lacking. There were a lot of mosquitoes, and we had to specifically ask the staff to clean the area. 7. Unreachable Owner: On one day, the owner was completely unreachable. We tried to contact him for breakfast but received no response. As a result, we missed breakfast that day, which was quite frustrating. 8. Smoke Smell: There was a constant smell of cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant. While I’m unsure if we reported it, it did dampen our experience.

Very comfortable bed, spacious room, newly decorated. It felt very cozy, the breakfast was nice but you have to order it on WhatsApp, so we were a bit confused at first.

There were some stains on the towels, the safe wasn't properly working and the road to the villa is very bumpy, narrow and muddy. However, we really enjoyed our stay and the landlords were very kind.

The location was awesome and quiet. Not at the center but in an area which has a lot of peace and nice restaurants. We had our 3 month baby with us and they helped arranged a cot for us. Ketut and his wife were very attentive to our needs as a family with a baby and we really appreciated that.

Good value of money with private experience. Only two rooms in this hotel/home stay. Shared pool with quiet and nice pool view. The owner is a couple and they are very friendly and helpful, made delicious breakfast.

The location is a bit hidden, you will need to call a grab bike if you want to visit the city center. (5-10 mins)

The room is very big and the bed is super comfortable! The villa is located very close to the center (~17 min walking), but in a quiet place. Donnie, who is going to receive you, is very friendly. He is a tourist driver and can take you on tours in ubud!

Bath water gets frequently cold.

Breakfast was really good. The host is super friendly and helps you out with whatever you need. The pool was great, the room was beautiful, even has a bathtub!

Only thing we didn’t like was the location.. wasn’t a big issue cause we used the Gojek app most of the time to get around, but would have been nice to walk sometimes. There were a bunch of dogs who live close by, who were a bit aggressive everytime scooters drove by. Scared me, so we ended up getting a Gojek car ecerytime we left. This isn’t the fault of the host tho so if dogs aren’t an issue for you, never mind this comment

Fantastic hosts and very nice set up

We especially liked the kindness of the owners. The beds were very comfortable. Upon our arrival they put some roses in the bed for our anniversary and that made us very happy

We didn't like that it doesn't have hot water in the shower, the entrance of the place (street) and the smell of the towels at times. Also the shower was leaking, but all in all it was an ok stay.

Everything! This is one of my favourite stays. The villa had everything we needed. So clean and extremely comfortable. The bed was amazing! Best linen and slept like a log. So well maintained and looked after. Dony and his wife take such good care of you, they helped us with an earlier check in, organised us a scooter and made us feel so welcome. And he picked me fresh coconuts in the morning. The small extra touches. We also had some good chats :) in a quieter street so you can rest, and there’s also a great restaurant in walking distance and a secret waterfall. But I do recommend having a scooter or a driver to do adventures. Dony also offers pick up services and day tours.

Absolutely nothing!

Excellent home made breakfast. Donny is an excellent host, he drove us to all the nearby attractions, planned good itineraries, and recommended delicious restaurants. The hosts were attentive, and if any issues occur, they address it very quickly.

Ubud is surrounded by nature, so it’s common to get a few bugs - but that would be true regardless of location. The house is down a narrow alleyway, and even though it was close to Ubud centre, there was no pedestrian path to walk to town.
