Sei Kiyomizu Monzentei

The decor and atmosphere of the house were great, and I think I can say, I will never stay somewhere like that again. It was a real experience. The location was great - near major temples etc (taxi from the station had trouble finding it despite Google maps so maybe get yours to drop you off at the main road and walk the last few metres – it’s no trouble). It was really easy to gain access and we loved the slippers at the door. The washing machine was useful and we loved the underfloor heating on a cold day. Friends loved soaking in the bath after a long day sightseeing.

Just a couple things - it was quite dark on a couple of days and it was dark in parts of the house - maybe brighter bulbs would be good? A towel to dry dishes would be useful - we had to leave ours out as we left. The sink tap and the lock in the top bathroom were broken. I was with work colleagues so had to ‘negotiate’ with the tap and prop the door shut (this wouldn’t have been a problem if I was with family).

Absolutely beautiful property in an amazing location! We could easily get where we needed to go, with bus stops just a couple minutes away, and so many shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Great location and very funky

Top bathroom sink tap needs fixing, it kept falling off. Simpler instructions for the heating and water heaters would have been good instead of just the full manuals. We needed “press the on button to turn the water heat on”. “Press the on button at the bottom right of the big white square panels to heat the floor”.

Excellent location. Very comfortable place. It was very nice and warm in winter with heated floors and bathrooms.

We needed to travel by taxi because of our luggage. The buses did not encourage large pieces of luggage. We had to walk a bit from the main road because of the narrow lanes. However, it was easy to get taxis from Kyoto station with English speaking drivers who provide excellent service. It was easy to get a taxi along the main road using the GO app.

The location was fantastic, and the bath was nice.

The tap in the upstairs bathroom was broken and the hot water in the upstairs shower was not hot enough.
