Villa KUMANO

Communication was excellent. Responses to queries were very prompt. House was clean and well located for visiting shrines and walking parts of the Komado Kono trails.

Very comfortable villa with home-way-from-home amenities close to the Hongu Taisha shrine. Lots of space and lovely views. Excellent evening meals provided.

Coffee bags would have been another extra indulgence, otherwise perfect.

We loved our stay. It's the most magical location and the owners made things very clear even though we met no one physically at all throughout our stay. Everything is well explained and you can comfortably get by. The views are breathtaking and it's one of our most memorable stays in Japan.

The water heater has an issue - we tried all instructions but it seems like the person showering last will get ice for a bath. That was unpleasant to be on my period with shampoo in my hair and suddenly no hot water. We had to use the kettle to survive the ice water.

The location is perfect for those who are on their Kumano Kodo journey. Parking is right across the street. It is walking distance to Kumano Hongu Taisha/Otorii/Heritage Center, and the bus stop. The breakfast and dinner arrangements are perfect. The villa is very clean and spacious with views of the Otorii. Most importantly, the hosts Tomo and Amy are most gracious and they really went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

In the center of the small town of Hongu and convenient to the shrine and Kumono Kodo trail. Very clean with a well stocked kitchen and an excellent washing machine.

The beds are basically single memory foam beds in the futon style. Not bad but if you are used to a spring mattress they take some getting used to
