Nothing to dislike

If I could rate Ekaya in Hartbeespoort ZERO stars, I absolutely would. I have never in my life experienced such blatant dishonesty and disrespect from an establishment. From the moment we arrived, I had a bad feeling — and I was right. I was asked to send a R2,000 “refundable” damages deposit, which I paid immediately. During our stay, two glasses broke and we noticed a tiny mark on a chair. I was upfront and responsible, and I even offered to fix the damage myself. The host AGREED and told me that once I fixed the chair, my deposit would be refunded. I went out of my way — used my own time, money, effort — and got the chair professionally repaired EXACTLY as she requested. And after all that? She suddenly changed the story and told me I’m not getting my deposit back because the chair “doesn’t match the other chairs” and because of “rules” she never mentioned before. This is NOT how honest businesses operate. This is NOT how you treat paying guests. This is manipulation. This is moving the goalposts. This is a scam. It’s clear she never intended to return my deposit — no matter what I did. She made me fix the chair knowing very well she was still going to keep the money. That is daylight robbery, and I am furious at how I was taken advantage of despite doing everything RIGHT. If you’re thinking of booking this place, don’t do it. Save yourself the stress, the lies, and the financial loss. Ekhaya looks nice online, but the way they treat guests is absolutely unacceptable. I will NEVER return, and I will make sure others know exactly what happened so they don’t fall into the same trap I did.

The place is the centre of everything, have access to the Dam and very clean place. We really enjoyed our stay. The kids can't wait to go back. The service was very good and the response to our request was quick. Thanks to Daniel he was always there to help.

Unfortunately there was no electricity most of our stay which was a huge inconvenience to us.

The house was clean

No electricity at the house they could have told us at 10 am they had an electricity problem and no alternatives available our check out time was 10 am the next day but we left the house at 6 in the morning Also had a problem getting hold of the guest house to get access to the place the number on the booking belongs to someone who no longer works at the guest house We were half a hour earlier than our scheduled book in time hower Last but not least it is very loud some type of religious worship was happening in the house next door which lasted till midnight Not a place for grandparents and grandchildren I am afraid to say
