Countrystyle Villa Bonora

We have had a superb time at Countrystyle Villa Bonora over the past 2 weeks. Everything surpassed our expectations and we are so happy that we plan to stay here again next June in 2026. A special thanks to Marinella and her team for outstanding service. We have been staying around Skala for the past 14 years and have stayed in various villas and hotels, but Countrystyle Villa Bonora is by far the best villa for its location, views and space. An example of the service given was when the washing machine developed a fault where it would not spin. This was passed on to Marinella and we could not believe it, the next day a brand new washing machine was delivered by Marinella and her team - outstanding!! Finding the villa was easy, just put in Countrystyle Villa Bonora into Google Maps and it will lead you directly to it. Please give a thought to the resident cat and give him some food. He particulary loves milk and dreamys. He is a typical local cat and will never enter the villa, but will wait outside the patio door. He wll never bother you when you are eating or relaxing on the patio. Oddly, he doesn't meow, but makes a cute sigh. We think he has a throat issue. But he's lovely. Once again thanks to all the team at Finest Villas Kefalonia for a fabulous stay. We will definately be back!

Everything about this villa was perfect!

The location of the villa was wonderful the views were amazing. The cleaning team were excellent as the property was spotless and they visited regularly to keep it clean. We had a couple of issues but I have to say that Marinella was wonderful she went above and beyond. For example the pool stopped working and she had it fixed within a couple of hours and just other little things really but I would say she definitely made our stay more comfortable.

The only thing I would suggest is more signposting when trying to find the villa but other than that no issues.

It was the best villa we had stayed in on the island! The location was amazing ( only 10 mins drive to Skala, 5 mins drive to Kaminia Beach & 3 mins drive to the only restaurant in the village Avli Ratzakli ( which is superb by the way!). The views from the huge terrace and super clean pool area were breathtaking and we found the house had everything we needed including plenty of cutlery ( obvs updated based on previous reviews). We also found the beds very comfy. We had no issues at all with the water during our 4 day stay although one of the shower cubicles was a bit rickety so probably could do with updating. The house is decorated in a country style (as per its name) so don’t expect super modern. The washing machine seemed a bit dated and we couldn’t work out how to use it. But other than that everything was fine. We stayed in 4 other villas on the island and this pool was the nicest, spotless and the loungers great.

Like others, we had a bit of trouble finding it. Basically, turn up the hill by Avli Restaurant, keep winding up until you see signs for various villas including Villa Bonora on your left on a hair pin bend. Turn off by the signs ( it’s a small track really from here to the villa with no other signs. Just keep to the right for about 5 mins , go past the villa called The View and then you’ll come to it on your right.

The villa is located on a very narrow dirt road and near the entrance thorn bushes are on the side which caused damage to our hire car and a taxi car that we got one evening. The main area of Skala is a 15 minute drive from the villa and it is not a road you want to drive in the night with no lighting. When we arrived at the villa, everything was nice and clean but we later had no running water for the first 2 days of our stay. After continuous communication with the owner and their lack of understanding of why this was such a huge issue they finally decided to instal a large tank to the property. This was appreciated but we also expect the property that we paid a decent amount of money to have running water at all times. The owner made it clear that they do not need to do this for us. We asked for a refund on our stay and we will leave rather than them installing the tank which they rejected. The owner then offered us a refund for one day of our stay for the inconvenience in return for a positive review... We accepted this and both ourselves and booking.com got notified of this refund by the owners. On the last evening of our stay we AGAIN had no running water due to the tank being installed incorrectly. We messaged the owner to receive no response. Once our stay was over we then get notified by booking.com that they do not want to refund us anymore and we still have not seen any money. I have waited over a month but here we are and here is a 100% honest review of our experience. Although the property now has a tank we still ended up having no water and I highly doubt it is an issue that has been properly resolved. Stay on the main strip of Skala where you can properly experience the day and night life without a painful drive and horrible owners.

The area was struggling with the water supply which was quickly restored thanks to our hosts. However the hot water generated by the property was very intermittent. But it was no great deal and for information only.

The location and views from the villa and pool was spectacular. The photographs online does not do the actual view justice. Breathtaking! The pool is a lovely size and a life saver in summer due to the extreme heat. The air conditioning inside really kept the villa cool at all times. Our room was a decent size with an en suite bathroom. Our friends stayed in the other room, which was smaller with 2 single beds and had a smaller bathroom. The balcony outside is great for meals. The house was clean and neat on arrival. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the spot. The village of Skala is about 10 minutes away by car. Small, quaint with a lovely beach and a great selection of restaurants.

The biggest issue we had (and we're not the first customers to point this out to the villa) was finding the villa. After traveling for 19 hours, the last thing you need is bad, almost non existing directions. The link sent to us in Google maps was useless. We kept missing the turn off. There is a sign in the village and small sign on a serious hairpin bend. We eventually asked a local and they helped us out with easy to follow directions. Once you've taken the turn off, you find yourself on a narrow dirt road, with no signage to tell you where to turn or go (keep going right by the way) After a good hour we eventually stumbled upon the villa. The villa seriously need to sort this out. The kitchen utensils are old, limited and the knives seriously blunt. An update is desperately needed. When using the washing machine, which sort of works, the main bathroom drain bubbles over, leaving a rancid smell. Lastly, the wasps. As soon as you bring out food they arrive. They are not dangerous, just annoying, and won't attack you unless provoked. For the record, you'll find them all over the island.

Fantastic location and views, a bit difficult to find and didn't expect the roads to be so poor. Bedrooms and bathrooms in the villa were well furnished, outside area and pool beautiful. Marinella and her husband provided excellent customer service and were very attentive in dealing with the few utility issues we had during our stay.

The lounge was very poorly furnished for 4 adults and not comfortable to spend time in during the evenings- needs improving. Some shade or fixed umbrellas around the pool would also have been useful. You definitely need a car to stay in this villa and one which is capable of coping with the poor roads.
