Riverlap homestay

I had a very peaceful few days at Riverlap. Being close to the river and the sea, you couldn't ask for more. I look forward to being back some time soon. Yashoda and Shanmugam were fantastic in cooking and serving amazing local dishes - ended up eating all my meals in Riverlap. Hope to be back soon !

Riverlap is such an idyllic place. Its is perfectly located between the river and the sea. You can easily enjoy both. The homestay helps with organising a boat ride in the backwaters. Its perfect if you are looking for quiet, clean, very local place. The best thing : the food. In Riverlap we had chance to try many varieties of seafood, which was prepared in a very unique, local way. We absolutely loved it !!!

We had a wonderful stay at Riverlap Homestay. We were so well looked after by all the family. The location is beautiful, on the backwaters and only a few minutes from an amazing super quiet beach. The backwater trip was great. All the food was delicious, some of the best we've had during our stay in India.

What an incredible stay at Riverlap homestay. I recommend everyone to come here. The location between the river and ocean is very special, with a private beach only 100 meters away. Shangu and his wife are super friendly and cooked the best food we tasted in all of India. Breakfast, snacks and different types of dinner every night, with fresh fish from the market or even caught by himself. Together with Vinu, they organised kayak trips, boat tips through the backwaters where we could see kingfishers and many other birds, and other must sees in the area. The hospitality was heartwarming and we truly felt part of their family. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay, this will stay for us forever!

Everything was great!

The property is in a beautiful location between the backwaters and a vast, golden sand beach. The room was very comfortable and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. The food was really delicious and included seafood that was caught locally. We had a very relaxing stay and I highly recommend this homestay.

A little paradise! Everything was perfect. The rooms are super cute and cosy, comfortable and very clean. The patio offers a lovely view on the coconut forest and the backwaters. It’s perfect for relaxing while looking at all the birds diving in the small ponds. It’s so peaceful with the jungle noise around. The family is also lovely: they took us on a boat tour in the morning, we went to the fish market and went to an amazing theyam ceremonies with them. They took care of us so well! And the food, omg, sooo delicious!! Thank you for everything !! Beach is very close by and very clean.

Nothing, everything was perfect. As air conditioning is very polluting by consuming lots of energy, I would encourage guests not to use it. So maybe they could put mosquito net over the bed or at the windows so that one can sleep with open windows and enjoy some fresh air and the sound of jungle without being annoyed by mosquitos ;)

Idyllic location. This is the real Kerala. Vinod and his people are the most kind and thoughtful hosts. The food is out of this world: you will not find better anywhere in Kerala, but you will pay much much more.

This homestay is a hidden gem, it is surrounded by water with an estuary on one side, a small lake in the grounds then the most amazing, deserted beach on the far side. The best part about this homestay is the family who live there, they are so accommodating welcoming you into their home for the most delicious meals. The mango coconut milk kingfish was one of the tastiest meals we had during our India trip. Shenmugen is the loveliest man, he took us on his canoe to the fish market and all along the backwaters, he was so helpful and attentive helping us book taxis and arrange excursions. The room was perfect, we were right on the lakeside with a hammock overlooking the water. The bed was comfy and the room felt like a cute log cabin, we loved being surrounded by nature.
