Sea Front Cottage

The view was good

everything! We booked The Seafront Cottage for a family holiday on the Isle of Skye and left the same day. I cannot stress enough how bad this place was, save yourself the money and the headache. Before we even got to the front door, we had to push through thick, overgrown foliage just to reach the entrance. The grounds were completely neglected. That should have been our first warning. The moment we stepped inside, we were hit with a horrible smell. Not a faint mustiness, a genuinely revolting odour that immediately made us question what we had walked into. It did not get better. The hardwood floors had screw heads protruding all over the place, constantly catching on our socks and feet. An absolute joke, especially travelling with children. To make matters worse, barely 2 out of 10 light bulbs on the main floor were working, we were essentially standing in the dark. Not a single bed had a top sheet on it. And the bedding that was there? Visibly dirty. The comforters looked unwashed and carried a smell to match. The fitted sheets were no better, they didn't look or smell clean. It was clear that a proper laundry turnaround had not been done before our arrival. The thought of actually sleeping in those beds was not something we were willing to entertain. The upstairs bathroom was an embarrassment, toilet seat hanging off, lights that barely flickered on, and no blinds on the window. Then we opened the linen closet to grab an extra pillow. They had blood stains on them. Visible, obvious blood stains. I don't know how any property manager looks at that and thinks it's acceptable to leave out for guests. It was disgusting and frankly deeply unsanitary. The dryer was listed as an available amenity. It didn't work. We had specifically packed light for this trip because this was our midpoint stop and we planned to do laundry. That broken dryer created a genuine problem for the rest of our holiday that we had to scramble to deal with.

Dört gün/gece boyunca bu harika villada konakladık. Manzara harikaydı. Yatak odasının deniz manzaralı olmasına bayıldım. Etraf çok sakindi, kimsecikler tarafından rahatsız edilmedik. Her sabah kuş cıvıltılarıyla uyandık. Uig kasabasının sakinliğine ve dinginliğine de hayran olduk. İyi ki bu mekanda kalmışız. Mayıs ortasında gittiğimiz halde hava genel olarak bize serin geldiği için ısıtmayı açtık ve çok iyi ısındık. Banyo/duş için ve mutfak alanında da her zaman sıcacık su vardı. Bir banyoda küvet de vardı ve bunu çok sevdik. Evin ekipmanı son derece yeterliydi. Mutfak malzemeleri yemek hazırlayabilmek için yeterli imkan sağlıyordu. Hatta kaldığımız 4 gün içinde çamaşır bile yıkadık.

Sevmediğimiz hiç bir şey olmadı. Sadece kurutma makinesi çalışmıyordu. Belki tamire ihtiyacı olabilir.

Nichts, hat den Bildern im Exposé entsprochen. Lieblos eingerichtet, Garten verwildert, Laminat im Flur festgespaxt, damit es nicht hoch kommt. Verwahrloster Hauswirtschaftsraum, sehr ungepflegtes Grundstück, Trockner ohne Funktion, Glastür im unteren Bad fehlt an der Dusche, Türen hängen in der Küche, Stühle mit abgebrochener Armlehne, Fenster ziehen Feuchtigkeit, Gartentor steht hinter dem Haus anstatt angebaut im Zugangsbereich, privater Parkplatz hat eher öffentlichen Charakter, usw. … verkauft das Haus an jemanden, der es zu schätzen weiß und es stilvoll her- und auch einrichtet. Kann man aber anscheinend Geld mit machen auf der Isle of Skye, trotzdem nicht zu empfehlen!

The property was very spacious and in a great location. There is a small grocery store 300 metres down the road which was perfect when we realised we forgot a couple of items for cooking and for a morning coffee purchase. It's in a beautiful area with lovely sea views and only a short 20 minute drive to the Quiriang and 40 minutes to Old Mann of Storr. There was more than enough room for our group of friends with two living rooms and 3 bedrooms. The kitchen was very well equipped. The bathrooms were also clean and we had no issues with hot water. I'd definitely recommend.

Nous avons aimé son positionnement géographique, et le fait de disposer d’un cottage entier.

Les photos sur booking sont expressément séduisante mais la réalité est plus neutre. Le cottage présente des abords peu soignés, une façade vieillissante, jardin peu entretenu, juste débroussaillée, mobilier interieur non loin de la récupération. Les chambres sont confortables, les salle de bain aussi. Point de vue propreté rien à redire. Ce que je retient c’est un reportage photo sur booking digne d’un 5 étoiles pour un presque 3 étoiles en vrai.
