Villa Barbosa, 2 BHK Villa & Luxury Rooms near Colva, Sernabatim, Benaulim Beach

The guest house is situated in a pretty, green and quiet area and part of a renovated 400-year-old Portuguese villa. There are beautiful beaches and a good choice of restaurants and other facilities around. The host Reuben is very caring, helps you with anything, and the room was nice, clean and spacious. I also loved the free water.

The facilities have great potential, Rooms are spacious. I had incorrectly booked the accommodation 1 day later but the owner managed to source me an alternate accommodation at short notice, in spite of it being a very busy period.

The property has not been maintained very well. I had to ask for the AC to be switched on. Lights were not working, Geezer was not connected, towel rails were broken, tiles near the toilet were broken. There was no tea or coffee in the unit. No toaster. Kitchen facilities were very basic. Had to ask for plates and cutlery. The caretaker could not access towels and other items as the owner was not available and had locked the equipment. Plenty of ingress for mosquitoes in the bathroom as the water pipe comes in through the louvers.

The location was great. Lot of plantation.

The dishes were wet on arrival. Had to wipe them to eat something.

Very clean, not too far from the beach, you can walk or take a tuk tuk. The host, Rueben, is lovely, so helpful. When we arrived my husband left his phone in the taxi and Rueben was straight on the phone to sort it out. Our onward journey the next day was a short distance away and when we asked Rueben about a taxi he took us there himself and wouldn’t accept payment.

Good comfortable but steep stairs up to rooms, a little dangerous

Food could be supplied when required for instance 8 am for breakfast or 6 pm for dinner. European habits are early meals and as a consequence we were never ok to eat on premises. There are time restrictions on when food is available as it is not in-house preparation. Some promises made were not delivered for instance you are welcome back and help will be at hand after missing flight but in fact no help was offered there were many similar awkward moments. Otherwise it was good accommodation, and good location.
