Yamaguchi House,Historic Private House with Open-Air Hot springs

The traditional Japanese room was a gem! Got 2 onsen tubs: exceptional values! Loved it

The best part of the property was the indoor and outdoor private hot springs! The bath was so relaxing and the atmosphere of the home made the experience even better and more authentic. There’s also a great view of the mountains from the backyard. As well, my favourite rooms were the traditional looking bedroom and living room! Those areas were very comfortable. Another highlight is that it is right in front of Ohiridai station and a bus stop. So you can easily travel to different tourist attractions.

Although the property has AC, it is only in the traditional home part (traditional bedroom and living room) and upstairs bedroom that have AC. The hallways and other rooms (e.g. bathrooms, hallway, historical rooms for viewing, non-bedroom, non-traditional areas) do not have AC.

The Yamaguchi house was absolutely beautiful! The natural hot spring gave us the opportunity to enjoy some down time while being at the house and relaxing. We had the private chef, Ryota, and his staff were absolutely wonderful. We had a great time interacting with them and the food was absolutely delicious. Well worth the price and would definitely recommend trying the private chef option if available! We left something behind and the owner quickly contacted us and then was able to meet up with us to give back the item but also offered to mail it to us. The only downside was the shower. Because it was rainy and cold and the only shower is outside, no one in our group wanted to shower because it was uncomfortable. We would definitely stay here again. Wonderful hospitality in a beautiful house in a beautiful location! The bus in Hakone essentially brings you straight to the home.

It was a beautiful house and overall just cool property to stay on. Wish we had a little more time to appreciate it and use some of the private chef services. The little private hot spring was a great touch. It was fun to stay on a property a little different from the hotels. It was also great that it was right next to a bus stop and train station.

This was definitely one of the most unique and interesting places I've stayed. It was absolutely gorgeous and was covered in amazing traditional decor. The outdoor onsen was so luxurious and relaxing. It was awesome getting to know the history of the house and it felt like we stayed somewhere really special. It was very large and can accommodate a large group easily.

Very beautiful house in old style! Paintings and photos on the walls, lots of old books on the shelves. Clean, spacious and very cozy. Beautiful green garden! Private onsen and outdoor bath! Convenient access to the tourist places in Hakone. We didn't want to leave. And we will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

The unique traditional accommodation. Easy to communicate with the hosts who were offsite but responsive to calls and sms.

The door lock system. It was difficult to use the code which didn’t work and then there was another door code for the other side of house.
