Ella Summer Leisure

The room was spacious with its own little terrace with table and chairs to sit at. Breakfast was delicious and the family was friendly. The location was a short walk to town which meant it was quiet but easy to access the busy cafes and shops. They provided mosquito nets and a fan.

Lovely basic room on the edge of Ella, 10 mins easy walk to the centre. Could sit and watch the trains go by in the am. No hot water or ac but wasn't needed. Great breakfasts

We'd planned to arrange a taxi with pick me but thr owner kept wanting us to use his tuk tuk which it was far too far for. He seemed to get upset so we agreed he could arrange us a taxi. Initially headed to the wrong place, had to change cars and was the Worst and slowest taxi ride ever. Took 4.5hrs ro do a 3 hr journey as the guy refused to drive over 40kmph ever on the expressway or put the ac on!

It’s 5 min walk from the train station / village centre. Quiet area.

Dirty

Very helpfull and friendly family. Location is nice, just 10m walk to Main Rd. Nice bungalow and room. Perfect for a family.

Very nice place, not far from center, but far enough to feel relaxed in nature. The family who runs the place is so kind, we really appreciated our stay !

The owners are lovely, friendly and willing to help with whatever you ask. It’s a very quiet location and breakfast is brought up to your terrace at whatever time you request it. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The property also has a lovely, hot shower 🥰

There was no kettle to make hot drinks or cups to have own drinks from. This was the case in most places I stayed in Sri Lankan so not particular to Summer Lease. You cannot drive up to the property so you have to carry your luggage along a small road and down a steepish slope. This may be difficult, muddy and slippery if it’s been raining and you are in flip flops 😬

The hosts were so welcoming and friendly, and very kind. We’d booked dinner, We arrived after 9pm as the train was 2 hours late but they kept the dinner for us, and it was frankly the best vegetarian rice and curry we’d had in Sri Lanka. I loved identifying birds in the garden and I’m impressed with the building work they’re doing to make another guest room.

It was a little unusual to sleep with a fleece blanket and no sheet. But it was clean and actually a good temperature as the nights are cooler in the mountains.
