Nicest family in the most beautiful setting! When I needed to go to town or be picked up a ride was there within 5 minutes of contacting the host. Amazing HUGE breakfast served right on the porch. Quiet and beautiful in a tea farm. Love love love this place better than any I’ve stayed at in the past 5 weeks of traveling.

It is a distance to walk if it’s raining and dark. Tuk tuk always right there though when I needed so no problem

location is great: not in the centre but not far from it (10min walk), super friendly hosts

The wife is really Nice and smiling and a very good cook. Breakfast is huge.

The husband is a tuk tuk driver and seems more interested in money than anything else. He took me on a tour and looked so bored, and overcharged me compared to the tours in the city Also tried to make me 4 nigths instead of 3

Lovely host (Nilmini) and her husband who drives a 3 wheeler met us at the station. Travelled with my mum who helped with the language barrier as hosts speak Sinhala. Lovely quiet area in a tea estate and her husband kindly drove us around for one day to see sights for an additional costs. They also kindly offer lovely meals and breakfast for additional costs. Nilmini went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and gave us some fruits from her garden when we left. Thank you.

It would be easier if it was clear what currencies are accepted as its quoted in dollars on the booking and clarity on costs of driver hire and meals at the beginning of the stay just to get this out of the way. I dont know if its feasible for the property to accept credit card, but ultimately there are costs with this and i understand why it may not be possible to introduce this payment method. It would also be simpler if this was a bed and breakfast for costing with additional charges for other meals and driver. Currently there is an additional charge for breakfast due to the location and this is essentially a nice room with a shower there is a high chance a guest will also need breakfast.

It’s between lush tea plantation so it was closer to nature. Hosts are decent.

There were lizards in the room, multiple times. Host is nice and smiles a lot but doesn’t understand a lot of English making it harder to communicate. Also, using this lack of communication to their benefit they charge you exorbitantly for services that are built into the room price like breakfast/juice etc. It was really disappointing to get into an argument at check out.

Without doubt the most lovely people we have met on our travels. Made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived with papaya juice, then tea.... then got offered dinner and the chance to learn to cook Sri Lankan curry. The property is on the outskirts of town nestled in the tea plantations but is also walking distance to the shops and restaurants, less than 1km, it is a good size one bedroom villa/bungalow with beautiful views from the windows and the terrace. Also you see the train crawling its way around the mountains. Next day the breakfast was really good, with coffee, pancakes, toast and fruit etc, and we also got fruits to take on our forward journey. If I could give 100 out of 10 I would. If you are travelling to Ella please give this family the chance to show the hospitality that we received. A great price also I would have paid double. A big thank you from Simon and Fiona.
