Vila Calaça

The location and garden of this chalet are excellent. I traveled around Madeira on three days and spent the other three days at the house because it was so wonderful I had no desire to go anywhere else. A short walk to a great supermarket, and an even shorter walk to swim in the sea (on the days it wasn't too windy).

The induction hob and shower are retro, but I reached a working compromise with both and they didn't diminish my holiday experience.

lovely, quiet, great location, great facilities, fabulous gardens and setting amongst hotels. beautiful views from patios and verandas. Great host, very helpful. lots of restaurants, shops, supermarkets, cafes very close by. parking facilities.

nothing to dislike

The accommodation is very nice from the pictures, but it is much more beautiful in person. The end of the garden overlooks the ocean, very cosy for an end of the day break. The apartment is equipped with everything you need, the kitchen is absolutely perfect for preparing a meal, but there are excellent restaurants nearby if you don't want to spend time doing that. Georges, our host was waiting for us on the spot on arrival, he was very willing to explain everything and help us with everything. On departure he booked us a taxi to the airport, we didn't have to worry about anything but having a good time during our stay.

Everything was fine, what you might want to watch out for is not to leave food on the kitchen counter, because ants can easily get at it. Although this is probably also because the house is in a green zone.

The apartment is even nicer than what we expected. It has a lovely little back yard overlooking the ocean. It is nice and cosy and the location is fantastic. We would definitely return here on our next visit.
