Thalpe Bungalows

Felt like being in a village, but also close to beutiful beach.

Thalpe bungalows are a little haven of tranquility. The staff Kandush and Latha were brilliant. So helpful, friendly and kind. The gardens are beautiful with lots of bird and wildlife around. The bungalow was really well equipped and comfortable. The pool was perfect too.

Nothing at all.

Bungalows - good layout, AC, nice bathrooms, lovely bedding and pillows, decent sized fridge and coffee making. Lovely outside covered area, good sized drying rack for clothes that gets sunshine, all the cushions and sunbeds etc felt new. The garden and pool area was lovely, you can sit in your bunglaow terrace on a couch or the table and chairs, plenty or room, or lounge on sun loungers. the pool is small but big enough to swim and play in, great temparature. Breakfast was great, the standard Sri Lankan offering but eggs/toast etc but cooked to order how you like them and the fruit was fresh and delicious. Staff - the staff were really helpful and they have tuks you can order at any time, they will accomodate, they booked a boat trip for us as well to Koggala lake. The whole experience was lovely.

The only thing that would have been slightly better was the extra beds for kids are fine for the kids. but not proper beds. Mattresses on the couches. It would be lovely to have a small hot plate or microwave then the bungalows become completely self contained and you can cook small things like pasta and noodles for example. These are just extras as a thought nothing wrong with the actual stay or bungalows.

This is one of the best places I've ever stayed. Quiet, cozy, stylish property with a great nice pool situated in the garden. The property has just 3 bungalows, they are very modern with nice design, having everything you would need. And one more remarkable thing is the hospitability. The hosts are very welcome, very attentive to your questions/ requests and will do more than you expect for you to feel comfortable. Breakfast they cook for you are great and delicious. I want to thank the hosts so much for taking care of us. The place is situated 7-10 minutes of walk from the main road, so it's an easy walking distance from everything you need in town. When it's dark I would recommend a tuktuk. So, definitely a place to recommend.

Nothing I could think of

A very nice villa in a place where you can enjoy peace and closeness to nature. You will see peacocks, monkeys, birds, lizards. At each villa there is a nice rest area, sunbeds. You will be taken care of by nice, educated people who speak English well. 4 nights was not enough. We will definitely be back.

This is not a bad thing, but note that dinner is not available in the villa, but we ordered it from nearby restaurants. You can also go there, but because of the rain we wanted to stay on the spot.

Lovely and very well maintained place. We loved the staff because they where very friendly, helpful and also great to talk to. Highly recommend the place as it is in walking distance to the beach and restaurants, but far enough from the street noise.

We loved everything about staying here. The bungalows are well-equipped and designed, everything is super clean and neat, the pool is clean and shaded in the afternoon, the breakfast is completely delicious and was different every morning, the property is well-located with a peaceful and restorative village-vibe but close enough to beaches/restaurants for dinners out, and our son was very well catered for. Our hosts were truely excellent. They provided excellent advice on activities, drivers and restaurants. Completely brilliant - would highly recommend and return.

The only thing we did like was not booking for longer!
