The Stable Yard House at Burtown House & Gardens

Beautiful accommodation, so well styled and a very comfortable bed.

Nothing as we did not get to see it.

Host non responsive to in days prior to stay via emails, only replied to one email and never followed up to my questions. Then on day of the checking itself, host was irresponsible to telephone, texts, messages on booking.com and instagram, direct calls from booking.com, they left us stranded in the middle of the countryside in front of an empty property, none of the numbers we were given were reachable and the host replied to just one of my texts AFTER 3 HOURS asking “who I was”, when we had already requested a refund and drove back to where we had come from. Most disgraceful experience. We managed to get into the fields of the property through a back gate and only living souls was two dogs. Property was unlit and nobody answered any of our calls and knocks. Eventually booking.com cancelled our stay and we are waiting for a refund, but the ordeal was awful and we eventually drove back home late at night. Should have trusted the reviews on google that says host is unprofessional, rude and unresponsive, and I would add irresponsible as well, as we were lucky to be without kids that night and I can’t imagine the ordeal if we had the whole family travelling.

Very pretty location on the farm

We had no electricity for the second night of our stay. We couldn’t cook food or charge phone or shower and there was no one on the property to help. We tried contacting the host multiple times but we received no answer. There was also a dog who kept crying at our room door throughout the night as the owners left him unaccompanied. We expressed our disappointment in the stay as it was not worth the price for the lack of amenities. The host communicated that they would give us a 50% refund but then stopped responding to contact after we sent our bank details. Would not recommend this place

It was a beautifully appointed, super comfortable cottage. The breakfast was fantastic

We really liked the calmness of the area, the stable house was amazing and everything we needed was there. The brunch we had as well in the restaurant/cafe the next morning was brilliant. We will 100% be back when we need a break to the countryside.

Only thing that we thought was missing was the tv didn't seem to work and would be good if it could be connected to the Internet/netflix but this is just such a minor thing.

1) The food: we had 2 superb lunches. 2) The staff: went out of their way to take care of us. Carless, we were attending a wedding at another property seven miles away on what (unknown to us) was the busiest weekend of the summer--taxis were not available. Joanna Fennel arranged for a staff member to shuttle us to the wedding events. 3) the ambiance of the working farm and the garden-to-table ethos; and 4) the bed was really comfortable.

Unfortunately there was a problem getting hot water during our stay.
