Yunal's Place

Staying with this amazing family has been so special and a hi-light of our trip. The location set in the hiri jungle, away from the hotels but close enough that there’s only a walk to the beach is wonderful. The huge and varied breakfasts have been the best of the whole trip. Lasantha picked us up from Mirissa and drove us to Udawalawe in his tuk tuk for a very fair price. They’re such kind people and we only wish we could have stayed longer.

Very nice family and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms were of different quality, but they were all functional with private bathroom and a private patio. Quiet surroundings, with monkeys in the trees. Walking distance to both Hirikiteya beach and Dikwella beach and town.

It was a bad smell from the drain in one of the bathrooms, but we solved with an open window.

Great little homestay with lovely owners who just live next door should you need them. Fabulous location. The room had a little kitchen where we could heat water for tea. The breakfast was lovely and served with a smile. Great stay, would recommend

Could have been a little bit cleaner in areas but nothing to put us off

Very sweet people who were very welcoming. They provided us with a very tasty breakfast (hoppers) and loved to chat with us. We got an early check in! Location was 10/10, next to a couple of nice restaurants and near the beach.

The bed is a bit small, probably 180 cm long.

No hot water in shower

The people were really nice and helped where they could. You have much place for all your stuff. The location is really good to go to the beach, take the bus or eat something.

The walls are really thin, so you here a lot. For example the dogs where really loud in the night. But you don't here the cars. We stayed just one night and there for breakfast were just Hoppers with onions and some fruit. The bed was just 1,8m long

It was simple and temperature was excellent. My favourite part about being here was the family who runs the place. They are very kind, friendly, made sure I was happy. They brought me fruit when I arrived and coconut water when I was getting ready to check out. They made the most amazing Sri Lankan food and prepared a beautiful presentation for me. The room had a little kitchen set up and they had plenty of water for me. They really went out of there way and I believe it’s just who they are. They have amazing hospitality and treat others with respect and I felt the most welcomed.

There was nothing I could report. My only problem was booking with another place. I would have stayed there my whole visit.

It was a big room with a little kitchen. I was happy with the waterboiler to make my nescafe. We had our own outside terrace. There where sweet cats and you could see monkeys. There was a bucket for doing laundry in the bathroom. And a lot of mirrors. Fan and musquitonet ofcourse. It was a short walk to the beach and they explained a lovely shortcut past the lagune. It was nice that the whole family was involved. Many times it is the mother or the son who is doing it, but here i spoke with everyone of the family at one point. The breakfast was very tasty. They showed us different local things each day and nothing spicy
