The Divine Villa

The villa is absolutely stunning, beautiful and clean rooms with air conditioning and big windows overlooking different parts of the surrounding greenery. The infinity pool is also lovely. Really fun snooker table to play with during a night in.

Very rarely in my travelling experience have I been asked to pay for my room in advance, and even less so to be followed into the room upon arrival with a POS machine. I mean, I was not going anywhere. The staff was welcoming, however their limited English made communication somewhat challenging. Daily breakfast was abundant and very tasty however, guests were required to choose both the menu and the serving time a day in advance. To make this process more efficient, I would suggest providing a selection menu at breakfast for guests to indicate their preferences for the following day. We had dinner at the villa on one occasion. While the setting was pleasant, the food was average and significantly overpriced when compared both to the general standard in Sri Lanka and to other hotels of comparable quality and luxury where we stayed. Food was not readily available at the villa outside of fruit. On our day of arrival, we asked for a club sandwich and were informed that staff would need to go out to purchase all the necessary ingredients, resulting in a preparation time of over an hour. Given that the villa is equipped with a pool and loungers, a limited selection of light meals or snacks available on short notice would greatly enhance the guest experience. That said, I did appreciate the complimentary Nespresso machines, which provided good-quality coffee. Overall, the villa itself is luxurious, but this is unfortunately let down by average service standards — something that could be easily improved with better organisation, communication, and basic guest-oriented amenities

Superbe villa intimiste perchée sur le flanc d’une colline, avec une magnifique piscine à débordement : un vrai petit luxe. Les chambres sont spacieuses et toute la villa est décorée avec beaucoup de goût. Un véritable coin de paradis, à l’écart de l’agitation de la ville. Le personnel est adorable et nous avons très bien mangé, aussi bien au petit déjeuner qu’au dîner. Le plus : un superbe jardin en terrasse (assez pentu), où nous avons eu la visite de singes chaque soir. Nous avons également eu la chance de rencontrer la propriétaire, très sympathique !

Dîner un peu cher par rapport aux prix du pays mais excellent !

L’établissement est magnifique et tres propre. Un calme et une grande sérénité règnent dans ce lieu un peu hors du temps. Diane est une hôte très professionnelle et très bienveillante Encore merci 🙏

This was by far the best hotel during our entire stay in Sri Lanka. Our room was beautiful, and since it was our honeymoon, they prepared a lovely welcome with special decorations, such a thoughtful touch. The staff were amazing, always ready to help with anything, and the scenery was breathtaking. The breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka.

The only challenge is that the road to the property is very steep, and older tuk-tuks cannot reach it, so walking is required, which can be difficult, though the staff do help with luggage.

The property is an excellent location with an amazing manager and staff to cater to all your needs. The rooms were amazing and the views from the villa the pool side are mind blowing , hats off to the staff for coordinating everything so perfectly. We will definitely visit again

The daily climb was the only challenging part.

The hospitality was great, and it was VERY clean!!

Maison fabuleuse, en taille, en prestations, en décoration en matériaux. Personnel discret et souriant, efficace et toujours présent. . Diane très accueillante. Piscine très belle, salle de sport, ballades autour. Un vrai havre de paix dans le sud du Sr Lanka, une des plus belles maisons que nous avons eue la chance de voir.

Everything! The villa is so beautiful and we enjoyed it so much. The level of detail and beauty is incredible. We stayed with 2 families and loved every minute of our stay. The food is also really nice and is so luxurious to have all the services like massage and own fitness. Great value for money! Also the staf was super sweet and service minded.

Our stay at The Divine Villa Thalpe was nothing short of perfection. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and care — Christophe, the owner, has truly created something special here. His attention to detail and passion for hospitality shine through in every corner of the villa. The house itself is absolutely stunning — a beautiful blend of modern luxury and serene tropical charm. The interior design is beautiful. Every room was meticulously designed, immaculately clean, and incredibly comfortable. Waking up to the view of the lush gardens and pool felt like a dream. The staff were beyond amazing — thoughtful, professional, and always going above and beyond to make sure our stay was flawless. From the delicious meal (we took the breakfast but now wish we’d had more meals there) to the little touches throughout the day, everything was handled with grace and genuine care. If you’re looking for a luxurious, peaceful escape in Sri Lanka, The Divine Villa Thalpe is just perfect. We loved every minute and didn’t want to leave. Thank you Christophe and team for an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to come back!
