Hotel Sunbee Insadong

Excellent location in Insadong, close to all the palaces and many other sights, and with numerous restaurants all around. Spacious, comfortable, quiet room.

Although there was a cafe in the building it didn't seem to offer more than coffees, teas and other drinks.

The room had heated floors, the bed was of the highest quality, firm and seemingly new; housekeeping was daily and we always returned to an immaculate place; comforters were generous in size, fluffy and warm. The location is an oasis and almost a sanctuary to return to after a day of intense sightseeing inside palaces, temples, gardens, and of course restaurants, all over the city. Kevin, the owner of the hotel, said he did not have a background in hotels but wanted to create rooms that felt peaceful and home-like. He accomplished his goal because I observed the room felt like a Zen meditation center (not because it was austere in any way but because of the calm it exuded). We needed help booking high speed rail tickets on KTX from Seoul to Busan which we were unable to do from outside of the country. Kevin personally made the reservations as seats were selling fast due to a convention in Busan. He asked “where are you coming from?” We said Iowa. “Iowa? I lived in Madison, Wisconsin for 8 years and did my undergraduate work there.” This was beyond coincidence as we had just moved to Iowa, after 8 years in Madison! He went on to tell us he completed a Master’s degree at Marquette in Milwaukee. So from the outset he went above and beyond insuring that our vacation would go as smoothly as possible; language was not a barrier! He created a map curating both his favorite restaurants and cafes along with those that received recognition the Michelin guide. This review is extravagantly enthusiastic and highly positive to convey the exceptional qualities; not an overstatement; we were genuinely impressed.

入住時飯店櫃檯人員很親切，還會介紹周邊景點。飯店房間滿大的，整理行李很方便，預定的是有浴缸的房型，浴缸很大、泡起來很舒服。飯店一樓有咖啡廳，可以付費點咖啡，但也有免費的咖啡機可使用，可以喝美式。飯店周圍很安靜，但走一下就是仁寺洞街道，吃東西很方便！還有免費的洗衣機和烘衣機可使用！

Great location, particularly for tourists (NB: it will take you 45 mins+ to get south of the river). The staff were kind and helpful local information was provided. Our room was large and very clean. Overall, the hotel is good value for money.

We had a deluxe KOR room but didn't find it comfortable. The furnishing was very spartan - not even a picture on the wall. And the windows were small, lending the room a claustrophobic air, as only one of the three sliding panels could be opened at any one time. The room is intended as a family room and is equipped with a bed for the adults (a bit soft for our taste) with a floor mattress for the kids (there were no kids so that was rather wasted on us). The space is therefore not put to much practical use, as there was nothing else in the room apart from a TV, some shelving and a hard chair.

Excellent location, warm staff and a comfortable stay.

The proximity of restaurants, entertainment, cultural sites and subway. The size of the room which was rather big for two people. The staff was helpful when we needed amenities and when the wi-fi disconnected.

The quality of the cleaning service was a little inconsistent. The floor and bathroom were always perfectly cleaned but once they forgot to refill the toilet paper and the hand soap, another time they did not refill the room with free coffee and tea bags. The reception was always helpful and gave us what we needed (but we had to go back downstairs to ask).

Very comfortable, clean, secure hotel with nice size rooms, helpful friendly staff and an unbeatable Insadong location.
