Villa Sunimal

This place is absolutely perfect, it’s down a driveway so you hear none of the road noise, and walking distance to the main strip. The room is a great size, hot shower, A.C, amazing internet & comfortable bed!!! The owners are so sweet. We ended up extending one night because we loved it so much!

The family who run Villa Sunimal are so wonderful and attentive. Nothing was too difficult for Dinu. He organised surf lessons for us and gave a lot of advice. Dinu and Sunimal were on hand to drop us off and pick us up from various locations. Spacious and comfortable room in a lovely home stay.

I had a great stay at Villa Sunimal. I was welcomed by the lovely family (who all speak English quite well) with a cup of tea, and immediately felt comfortable and welcomed. Dinu is very friendly and willing to help with anything you need. The room is clean and spacious, with a well-functioning AC, and there is a shared kitchenette with a fridge. The location is perfect: it's situated on a side street off the main road, so you're close to everything but without the noise from the road. In just a few minutes, you can walk to the tourist shopping street of Unawatuna. I will definitely come back!

Great location, close to the main road between Matara and Galle ánd the street that has all the restaurants, cafes and (souvenir) shops and the beach is a short walk away. Easy to catch a bus or Tuktuk to any of the nearby places. Hospitality of the host family was great. Even offered us a rice cake in the morning in go out of their son’s birthday. Unit had great AC and two beds with mosquito nets, which was great!

A breakfast option would have been a plus and made our stay even better! The bathroom could use an update, as is the case with many in Sri Lanka.

Value for money

The family really went out of their way to look after you. Dinu booked trips for us and the family Tuk Tuk as well. Lovely people.

Villa Sunimal is an amazing place to stay for some obvious resons: 1. Hosts are really caring and kind-heaeted people) Dinu can arrange interesting excursions for you, his mother Rinitha is always ready to help you, she is able to solve all your problems. Dinu's father has his own tuk-tuk and he is an experienced driver who can drive you anywhere at a reasonable price. Thanks to these hospitable people we felt like home. We will definately stay at this place when we go to Unawatuna again. 2. Location is very good: 7-10 minute walk to the perfect sandy beach with calm crystal-clean ocean, supermarkets, cafes, bus stop are nerby. The place is very quiet, every morning we woke listening to birdsongs! We saw various animals near our house: lizards, varans, monkeys, chipping squirrels and even beautiful peacocks. It was unforgettable experience for us, people from far-away cold Siberian city) 3. Room was realy spacious and cosy. We stayed at the room 1 on the first floor, it is a room with a private kitchen. It is definately useful to have the private kitchen since we cooked fresh fish and prawns every day. The fish market is about 20 minite walk or you can take a bus (local bus drivers are a little bit crazy from our point of view, but we went by bus almost every day and even liked this at the end))). There are 5 rooms in the guest house,: three rooms on the second floor with a shared kitchen and 2 rooms on the first floor. Room cleaning is on request and it is done very well. To sum up, we really enjoyed our staying at Villa Sunimal) Dinu, we will miss you and your family) I hope we will meet again!
