Our stay at Baan Boo Loo Village was one of those rare travel experiences that stays with you long after you’ve left. Tucked just inside the Old City of Chiang Mai, this isn’t a typical hotel, it feels more like stepping into a handcrafted Thai village. The teakwood houses, elevated walkways, and lush garden setting create a peaceful, almost magical atmosphere that immediately slows you down. What truly sets Baan Boo Loo apart, though, is the people. The hospitality is genuine and deeply personal; you’re not just a guest, you’re welcomed like family. The team goes out of their way to ensure every detail is taken care of, often anticipating needs before you even think to ask. Each room is unique, filled with character and traditional design touches, yet still comfortable and functional. Waking up to the sounds of birds, surrounded by greenery, feels worlds away from the busy streets just outside. Breakfast each morning is a highlight. It is fresh, homemade, and thoughtfully prepared. It’s the kind of place where you linger a little longer, enjoying the setting as much as the food. Location-wise, it’s ideal. You’re within easy walking distance of temples, markets, and everything that makes Chiang Mai special, yet once you step back inside, it’s quiet and serene. If you’re looking for a polished, cookie-cutter luxury hotel, this isn’t it, and that’s exactly the point. Baan Boo Loo delivers something far more memorable: authenticity, charm, and a level of warmth that’s increasingly hard to find. We’ve stayed in a lot of places around the world, and this is one we’d return to without hesitation.

The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was a bother to them. The food and service was fabulous.

Gorgeous architecture and landscaping using salvaged materials to wonderful affect. The best bit was the hospitality of the family and particularly Aunya and Ton. Nothing was too much trouble and we quickly felt like cherished old friends. Mr Weera, next door, with his own little mini transport fleet of tuk tuk and twin cab ute was always on cheerful call. Literally. The food each morning was a delightful and accessible intro to authentic Thai and Burmese cuisine. The focus was on wellness as well as flavour. The cooking class and also the banquet by the Baan Boo loo team offered great cultural insight as well as education about ingredients and technique. The little touches like the outdoor honour system fridge full of beer and wine plus an array of free teas with kitchenette facilities is just one of many unique extras provided by the hosts. Finally, perfect location.

Best to be careful about your selection if you have mobility issues. Only one or two rooms are accessible without often idiosyncratic stairs but the reception and dining area can only be accessed by stairs

This hotel is a true hidden gem. It offers a stunning contrast to the urban hustle, surrounded by lush nature and providing a peaceful place to breathe. The staff was exceptional, and I can honestly say this was the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. ​You’ll find great restaurants and shops within a 5–7 minute walk. While some tour meeting points are about 20 minutes away on foot, it’s a very quick taxi or scooter ride—though most tours will pick you up directly at the hotel if you coordinate in advance. A lovely, intimate stay with a wonderful team.

Maybe some mosquitoes, but I did not mind, since this is part of being surrounded by nature. Nothing that a repellent can solve.

Die Zimmer sind im traditionellen Holzstil gebaut und versprühen viel Charme und Charakter. Jedes Detail wirkt liebevoll gestaltet und passt perfekt zur natürlichen Umgebung. Trotz des rustikalen Designs fehlt es nicht an Komfort, sodass man sich wunderbar entspannen kann. Besonders schön ist die ruhige, grüne Anlage, die eine kleine Oase mitten in der Stadt bildet. Das Frühstück ist frisch und lecker, oft mit lokalen Zutaten zubereitet, was den Aufenthalt zusätzlich bereichert. Was den Aufenthalt jedoch wirklich auszeichnet, ist das einzigartige und einmalige Erlebnis, das dieses Village bietet. Die besondere Atmosphäre, die Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber und die authentische Bauweise machen jeden Moment unvergesslich und heben sich deutlich von klassischen Unterkünften ab. Genau dieses Gesamterlebnis macht auch den überdurchschnittlichen Preis absolut vertretbar. Insgesamt ist das Baan Boo Loo Village eine klare Empfehlung für Reisende, die etwas Besonderes suchen – fernab von standardisierten Hotels, dafür mit viel Persönlichkeit und authentischem Flair.
