Villa Maud

Maud is a lovely host. She met us when we arrived and showed us around. Her home was centrally located so we could visit Middleburg, wineries, and breweries. In advance, she sent a list of recommended restaurants, breweries, and wineries. Her recommendations were excellent. We paid extra for breakfast, and she cooked us a large, delicious breakfast.

Villa Maud is a true gem in the heart of Virginia’s horse country. From the moment we arrived, Maud’s warmth and gracious hospitality made us feel like old friends rather than first-time guests. Her attention to detail is impeccable, from the beautifully set breakfast table to the thoughtful touches throughout the inn. It’s clear why Villa Maud has earned its reputation for first-class service—every aspect of our stay was simply exceptional. We stayed in the Monet Suite, which is as well-appointed as it is inviting. The room is adorned with stunning, skillfully painted portraits and landscapes, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined and deeply personal. It was the perfect setting for a relaxing, rejuvenating getaway. And while the accommodations were exquisite, one of my wife’s favorite moments had nothing to do with fine linens or gourmet breakfasts—it was meeting Tim McGraw, the charming donkey in the neighboring field who eagerly accepted her head scratches. We may have come for the luxury, but we left with a new four-legged friend. We’re already looking forward to our next stay at Villa Maud. It’s a rare place that blends elegance with genuine warmth so effortlessly, and we can’t wait to return.

We thought the place was okay but not as we had expected given the reviews and pictures. Pool was not offered to use despite the face that we had the Monet suite. But all in all okay stay

Good nature spot

I booked through Booking and we stayed in Tyrolean suite for 2 nights and I paid about $750. It turned out to be not a suite, but a room with bathroom in the basement of the house, quite dark. Description and photos on the site are quite vague and don't give the full picture. It says "Entire villa" and Kitchen in the Amenities section. Place needs a serios facelift. There is no thermostat in the room, and temperature is controlled from outside (from the office?) Breakfast is extra $30 per person!!. And I should also mention internet, almost lack of it. Wi-Fi was terrible throughout our stay. My wife is taking Zoom classes in the evening, but we were kicked out of the system every couple of minutes and then discontinued. You can send messages, check some news, but that's it. There is no router in the room, signal probably comes from upstairs. In my opinion, this place is terribly overpriced. Description and photos should reflect real situation.
