Beachside Villa with Private lap pool

Spacious and a great layout!

A stunning, spacious, contemporary villa-style property with lots of comfy lounge seating, a huge kitchen and great walk-in robes. The pool was great for a dip, and the beach was almost on your doorstep at the end of the street. The aircon was excellent in the hot, humid weather and the undercover car space came in handy at times. The shuttle bus picks you up at your door, and drops you wherever you want to go in town; so good!

Maintenance was lacking. If a few simple things had been attended to, we could have given a top score. The dishwasher came right out of the cabinet when you tried to open it. This was attended to very quickly. However, ensuite shower drains were badly blocked, the bifold doors in the living room were not easily lockable, and we discovered after four nights that they could easily have been opened from outside, door handles were in pieces. The kitchen sink mixer leaked badly and flooded one end of the bench and on to the floor. No sun lounges was a big disappointment as this was a big expectation next to the pool. Cutlery and crockery were in short supply.

The location is good and the house has so much potential

The house wasn't clean at all, we found a cup with lipstick marks on it in the cupboard, the pool wasn't cleaned, there were spider webs inside and dirt on the floors. The house itself is nice and has potential but it definitely needs to be cleaned better. A lot better. The house promises 4 bedrooms but beware, if you're 4 adults 2 of the bedrooms will be locked off, which is NOT specified in the ad, false advertisement. As a result one of us had to sleep on the couch, not everyone can just share a bed. Neither booking.com nor the owner were willing to do anything about it or reimburse some of the money. Definitely not worth the money, so many nicer places around Port Douglas you can choose from for a similar price. Well below expectations.

The house was extremely spacious and being a group of us it was nice to be able to spread out and not feel like we were living in each others pockets. The location was great and the restaurant across the road had amazing meals. Very easy to get into Macrossan street. We used the local shuttle buses.

The dishwasher wasn't working (which there was a note about). The house itself wasn't very clean. There was sand on the floors (obviously from previous occupants) and the pool was full of bugs etc.

the pool was amazing for the kids. phill the owner was very accomodating as well.

can be a bit loud with the pub across the road.
