Lovely 1BR Secondary suite with Separate entrance

Cosy basement apartment. Bright and airy and very quiet (apart from some very strange plumbing noises) Nicely decorated, excellent laundry facilities although no iron. When I queried this, a garment steamer was delivered within minutes. The apartment is situated in a suburban area and parking is on the street. However during the 5 days we stayed there 'our' parking spot directly outside the house was always available. There is a large shopping all within walking distance if you don't feel like driving.

The kitchen was very basic, there was a microwave, a single cookin ring and a toaster oven. There were only 2 of everything, plates, cutlery etc and no sharp knife. Extra plates and cutlery would be nice, or even a couple of side plates. Unlike many properties on Booking.com this property required payment in cash on arrival, which I confess I had not fully registered before arriving. I assumed the payment would be handled through Booking.com as had all our other reservations for the big trip we had organised. We only realised this would be an issue when we received an email from the property the day before we arrived. This was a real issue for us as Australians, because trying to get over $1000CAD cash at short notice was a problem. After several phone calls with the owner he arranged for us to pay with a credit card over the phone. This is not how we like to do things and one of the reasons we always use Booking.com, as they are the only ones who have our credit card details. However we had no option as the owner said Bookings would not take payments for him(?) So definitely something to be aware of when considering this property.

The location was perfect. Within walking distance to amenities. Clean Hosts were accommodating with us with check in.

It was disappointing that a patio and hot tub were a selling feature for us and although there was a patio, there was no patio furniture to sit on and no hot tub. Well lite when arriving late at night and clean. However the bed for us was very low to the ground, Difficulty getting down that low. The exhaust fan in the bathroom made way too much noise to have it on. The toilet when flushed needs to be drawn up and out and the motor that does that is extremely loud so we tended to flush in the morning so we wouldn't wake the neighborhood.

Very clean and spacious. Minimal kitchen crockery & cutlery and cooking utensils but enough for our needs. Washing machine & dryer very useful. Heating worked well. Nice street, easy walk to shops & public transport. Good communication with host.

No TV reception, only YouTube which didn’t always work. No water glasses. We parked our rental car in the street and someone (we suspect the person doing the gardening) damaged the boot with something heavy and dirty - it was scratched & dented which will cost us $500 in excess cover when we return the car.

Kurig Coffee pods were very good. Bed was comfortable. Availability of prime and netflix was good

Entrance was down a set of stairs that did not have a handrail from top to bottom. A basement apartment was an unwelcome surprise

Clean, comfortable & quiet suite. Close to shopping & transportation. Very convenient and independent.

Was very clean and comfortably furnished. Nicely supplied.

It's a non-soundproofed basement suite with sounds from above. But overall people upstairs were fairly quiet. I would have preferred unscented sheets and towels, and a coat hook and inside rug for my wet shoes. Otherwise was very nice!
