Everything. The peace and quiet mainly. The views from the lodge where out of this world.

Not a lot for chidren to do. Could do with a small play area or football area, basket ball, that kind of thing

I stayed at the Shifty Chicken Shack for three nights while exploring the stunning landscapes around Trawsfynydd, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The cabin has a quirky retro charm with modern comforts — from the fully equipped kitchen to the cozy living space with vinyl records and mountain views. The location is perfect: peaceful, surrounded by nature, and just a short drive from Snowdon and Harlech Castle. Waking up to the serene views of the Rhinog mountains was a highlight each morning. The terrace and balcony were ideal spots to unwind after a day of hiking. The hosts were friendly and responsive, and everything was spotless on arrival. It’s clear they’ve put a lot of thought into making the place feel welcoming and unique. Highly recommend for couples, small families, or solo travelers looking for a relaxing retreat with character. I’ll definitely be back!

Getting a wifi and car charger for EV would be best for increasing the foot fall to the place further.
