Kræmarvika Lodge

The lodge, a converted barn, was quaint and furnished in a very cozy manner. The location, on an isthmus at the junction of two fjords, was spectacular in terms of scenery, and also within easy walking distance of a tourist viewpoint. Northern lights were visible on several evenings right from our doorstep. We never met our hosts but the keys were deposited for us inside the lodge, and initial problems with the WiFi were quickly resolved by text message. We didn't use the sauna and the jacuzzi had been emptied, so apparently it was not intended for use at this time of the year.

The only small critique has to do with the kitchen appliances and utensils. We couldn't find a toaster, and some of the more worn utensils and plates should probably be sorted out of the collection. Other than that, everything inside was fine. This is not a negative, but logistically it's worth noting that the lodge is at a semi-remote location (20 minutes west of Tromsø Airport, so close enough for easy sightseeing). This wasn't a problem for us as we rented a car (the bus system seemed very efficient but we didn't try it) and there were several supermarkets between the lodge and Tromsø.

WiFi should be better

The house that appears in the photos actually turns out to be beautiful and in a great location, but we were unable to stay there. Only once we arrived on site did the host inform us that due to plumbing issues we would have to stay in the house next door, with no charm and no outdoor hot tub.

The host, upon checkin, offered us a different accommodation that was not comparable to the one booked. We refused the offer and asked for a refund. Since that time the host has not responded to me or the booking agents, in an obvious attempt to evade the duty to refund. Very dishonest!

Beautiful place, but they need to update their facility list. There is no AC, there is no fireplace (there is a firepit outside, but nothing to light it with). The Spa had a little dirty water in the bottom, so it was not functional. It only has Apple TV so if you do not have an Apple device it will make it tricky. There are not instructions for anything, apart from 3 pages telling you to take your shoes off.

It was unique and quirky. Ideal ovation for ski touring. Great supermarket nearby. Would stay there again.

Excellent location, good starting point to explore the surrounding islands. Cosy house with a lot of charm, comfortable beds and great view. Thank you for the easter flowers.

Some more cooking pots/saucepans would be great and a new kettle.

Location was good because it’s close to nature with good view of the mountains and water. It has most things you need from an accomodation.

Unresponsive host - provided no instructions about check in, and was not in touch at all from day 1. The house was quite dark, esp given outside was very dark much of the day. The host just didn’t seem to put in much effort to making the place inviting. The condiments or toiletries seemed to just be whatever previous guests left behind. Some maintenance is required - sauna not working, flickering lights.

A beautiful house in a great location. A lot of living and sleeping space, even too much for 2 people. Electric sauna is included, hot tub was not working in the winter. The location is great for hiking or aurora spotting, although you might need to get a little farther from the street lights. Inside the house there's everything you need, from hot water, kitchenware & appliances, up to heaters and warm bed linen, needed in the winter time. No problems with checking in and out, even at a late hour. You may park beside the house or at a small parking up the hill, by the main road (around 100 meters from the house), depending on the car you drive and your driving confidence.

Hot water smells a little but if you've been to the Arctic before, you'll be familiar with that.

great ambience. nice to have several different sitting areas. great location for access to skiing.
