"My family lives were at stake, kids found live ammunition at the property, scary, unsafe place."

1.0

This place is scary and unsafe. very dirty (beddings, bathrooms), unmaintained and smells really bad. It is not family friendly and is more of a hunting place than a game reserve. The reality of the accommodation is miles apart from the pictures they show - really shocking. We found live ammunition in the cupboards which was the tipping point for us. We drove 400km and had to find alternate accommodation. Despite this horrible situation, the owners refuse to refund us.

Every thing was horrible. The venue was a rip off, unethical individuals trying to rip people off with false advertising.

"A weekend away that gone wrong"

1.0

I didn’t like anything,I had to checkout on Saturday morning because of false advertising

They posted nice pictures on booking.com whereas the house is very scary and dirty,it’s not what I was expecting,we were even forced to sleep in one bedroom because everybody was scared,as a result we had to look for another accommodation

"Exceptional"

10.0

This is an amazing location exactly halfway between Johannesburg and Durban for a reunion / group stay. We had 5 families together at the lodge and we were all accommodated perfectly. The unique natural environment gave the weekend a relaxed, special atmosphere. The lodge, kitchen and communal areas are well equipped for a large group stay, everyone was comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. The guys enjoyed the bass fishing, we had a lovely hike and the birding was great. We have some wonderful memories to take home with us. Thank you Nicole for the superb service and hospitality.

"Our stay our Buffalo Hills was nothing short of amazing"

10.0

The host Nicole was amazing. She is friendly, always available and so accommodating. All the staff are friendly and so welcoming with a special mention to Nicole and Jackson. We stayed at the main lodge, the accommodation is rustic but modern and beautiful, and the views are nothing short of amazing. The main lodge has 6 individual buildings, all very close to each other (2 buildings each a have a queen bed and ensuite bathrooms, 1 building with a king bed and single bed with one ensuite bathroom, 1 building with 3 queen beds with one ensuite bathroom, 1 building serves as dedicated TV lounge with fireplace, 1 building is the main building that includes an ensuite bedroom with two single beds, shared self catering kitchen, dining room and bar area with fireplace). We loved the welcoming fire on arrival with enough firewood for our entire stay. The property is serviced with its own borehole water supply which is safe to drink. It is a self catering facility with no onsite restaurant but it has every convenience for self catering (large gas stove/oven, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, ice machine, large fridge/freezer, separate smaller bar fridge/freezer, pots, frying pans, kitchen utensils, braai area etc). No nearby shops so preferably bring everything you need as it is a 35 km drive to the nearest shop. The road to Buffalo hills requires about a 15 km drive on a dirt road, but manageable with any vehicle however be careful of road conditions given the impact of the recent rains on the road. I would be hesitant to book a stay mid winter as it may be very cold and the rooms do not have heating systems. The accommodation is a mini game farm with buffalo, various different bucks and dams for fishing (catch and release only). It is a large property so there is plenty to explore but some of the roads only accessible with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Be aware that 1 building/room has lots of stairs to get access but once you get there the view is amazing

Not much but the WIFI speed and Wifi signal is not great in all the buildings. The cell reception with MTN at least is almost non-existent so you rely on the WIFI. The individuals rooms do not have keys to lock the doors which takes some getting used too.
