Beachboy Chalet By The Beach

The location is on the beach in a fishing town.

I arrived late at night to realize the oven is not working (no gas). I contacted the owner and he fixed it at 4 pm next day. I accepted that things like that happens and moved on. But my breaking point is when I bought microwave meals and ramen and other stuff just to realize that the microwave is ALSO NOT WORKING. I contacted the owner again and he did not respond and ignored my messages. No apologies, no trying to fix the issues, just read my text that the microwave is not working and left me on read. Food I bought was useless without microwave. I give the place zero stars if I can for the lack of preparation and communication. Other things to note: -The beach and the view is not as beautiful in reality. -The place is in a Chinese temple so most of the nights there are drumming sounds. -The location is in a very poor local area that gets very dark at night. Not for female travellers as others have mentioned.

Loved the location straight on an unspoiled fishing beach and waking up 50 feet from the waters edge to beautiful sunrises every morning. The car park attendants nearby gave us special parking nearby if you mention you’re “staying in the homestay” as the carpark got packed at times.

You need to accept the ants that come with being so close to the beach. The main room is free but they come through the bathroom vent so we bought repellent tablets for the bathroom which helped.

Love the ambience and accessibility. Calm neighbourhood. Seaview sunrise. Had a goodnight sleep.

No negative comments, a hidden gem in Penang.

John was a wonderful host! He received us two hours early and upon departure he left us 1 hour extra. The cabin is equipped with everything a tourist needs! Very white and quality linen. So are the towels. From the terrace, the landscape is gorgeous! I recommend with all confidence!
