Bush Dream, Mabalingwe

The location was excellent. In the bush but yet a short walk to the main entertainment area. Lovely, comfortable linen too.

The only thing missing was a proper boma and it would b nice to have chairs on the stoep instead of having to carry camping chairs back and forth the whole time.

Secluded and quiet

Braai was not great, legs were broken and whilst I understand the need to lock things up, the grid chained to the braai was really impractical.

Spacious house with lots of potential.

We had a wonderful time at Mabalingwe reserve. However, arriving at the Bush Dream wasn't so pleasant. Our host was rude and unhelpful. We were asked to pay the deposit on the 1st April. We then paid the deposit on the 2nd and I sent a message here confirming that the deposit was paid. We had no response until the 7th April reminding us to pay the deposit which had already been paid, showing poor organisation. My parents arrived on the Mabalingwe site half an hour before checkin, but did not enter the property. Once they were in, they found there was no electricity and texted Lynette, our host for help. As they were unable to get the power back on, they tried calling her. After multiple attempts, she answered and she said to "stop calling her because she has other properties to manage". We said that if she can't help, we can have our money back and go somewhere else. She responded with "don't threaten me" and hung up the phone. As you can imagine, when booking and paying for a vacation stay, we expect to have good customer service. On the day of checking out, the cleaner was already sitting outside the house multiple hours before check-out time. We did the inventory with her and sent a polite message to show we had checked out almost an hour early and that everything was in order. We felt it was important to communicate this as after doing some research, we saw multiple reviews on Google about Lynette's poor customer service and customers having trouble getting their refunds back. Usually deposits should be automatically returned to the original payment method within 7 working days, without us having to chase for it. The property also needs a bit of love, especially the fire area.
