Caracal Cottage

The cottage itself was great, well equiped and nicely designed. The host Liesje was also nice and welcoming.

As of the January 2023 the place has no generator. Most importantly, the water in the cottage are rain water and therefore rely on electric pumps to have running water in the kitchen, bathroom, shower etc. Therefore, during the load shedding you cannot shower, use the toilet, or use the sink. We did not know this in advance, otherwise we would not have come to the cottage. We could not shower when we wanted to, use the toilet, or brush our teeth. It felt more like a camping trip... We did receive a 5L bottle of water from Liesje, which we used for drinking. The stay was not what we expected. We paid the full price, but felt dissappointed as the Cottage could not provide us with running water during the load shedding. I would not stay here had I known it will be like that. I understand this is the power situation in the entire country, nonetheless, not having running water for many hours a day is something I would like to be aware of prior to my stay. Liesje informed us that she is intending to install solar panels, but as of January 2023 the above is the situation.

It was out of the rush and closer to nature. Unit is well equiped, comfortable and neat. We enjoyed our privacy. Excellent host.

It doesn"t have direct access to the beach. It is a 15 min drive to the beach.

We had a very warm welcome from our host Liesje who went out of her way to ensure our stay was comfortable. The unit was very well equipped and was only 10 mins drive to Robberg, shopping and restaurants
