Camp Acacia - Private Safari Lodge with Pool near Amakhala

Our host and driver was great and really made us feel welcome. He was so informative and made us feel at ease. I loved the privacy. Great for families that want their own space, there were three different chalets that slept two in each room. So capable of accommodating a total of 6 guests. Great for family getaways. Or a small corporate team.

It is self-catering, but you also cannot drive yourself to the venue. You park at the office and take a game drive to the venue. Completely understandable as it is a nature reserve. But a bit unsettling as you are pretty much stuck with what you brought with you. At least the Kitchen is fully stocked with equipment and they provide firewood etc. So you just need to bring everything you will eat/drink and toiletries.

Das Camp Acacia besteht aus insgesamt fünf Hütten und ist für sechs Personen ausgelegt. In einer Hütte befindet sich die Küche und der Essbereich, nebenan in der Hütte der Wohnbereich, daran schließen sich zwei Feuerstellen sowie ein Pool und drei Wohnhütten an. Alle Hütten sind zweckmäßig und komfortabel eingerichtet. Edwin, die gute Seele des Camps, holte uns mit seinem Landcruiser an einem Parkplatz für unseren Mietwagen ab und brachte uns durch das Gebiet des Amakhala Game Reserves zu unserer Unterkunft. Das war quasi schon unsere erste Safari, da wir unterwegs schon Kudus, Warzenschweine, Zebras, Springböcke und Giraffen sahen. Leider war unser Aufenthalt im Camp Acacia nur für zwei Tage, wir wären gerne noch viel länger geblieben. Natur pur und eine ganz tolle Atmosphäre. Von der Terrasse des Wohnbereichs hatte man einen traumhaften Blick ins Tal, wo man die ganzen Tiere beobachten konnte, und morgens standen die Giraffen zum Frühstück, direkt vor einem. Ein unglaubliches Erlebnis.

This was my fourth stay and will not be my last. Camp Acacia is the place to take a deep breath, relax and be one with nature. Loved the fact that you can walk around, see animals and just relax. Edwin and Cecilia were amazing, as always. Very clean facilities and comfortable chalets.

Absolute Empfehlung und ein Highlight unserer Reise. Man befindet sich mitten in der Natur und hat dort sehr viel Privatsphäre. Edwin und Renzo sind beide sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wow, wow, wow, had the best stay in South Africa here! The pickup was good by Edwin and the accomodation is flawless. The great view from the different buildings was amazing. You can freely roam around the area and spot giraffe, zebra, antilopes etc. Such an amazing experience. And a visit of Nibbles is really special. Highly recommended.

Het was veel groter dan ik had verwacht. Het verblijf bestaat uit 5 losse huisjes : een keuken, lounge, en drie losse slaapplekken. Daarnaast een eigen zwembad en braai plekken. De omgeving is prachtig en we genoten elke keer als Edwin ons ophaalde of bracht: enorm vriendelijk en geïnteresseerd. Elke keer was het een mini safari met allerlei dieren.

Beautiful collection of thatched dwellings on a hilltop looking down over a family of giraffes, and various other local wildlife. The rooms were very comfortable and Edwin our property manager and host was superb. Watch out for the friendly Kudu called Nibbles, she visits at tea time. 😄

We loved our time at Camp Acacia. Edwin was the perfect host - super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed sitting around the boma and fireplace at night, and the beautiful pool area and deck during the day. Really well equipped kitchen and lovely eating areas. Lovely walks, great birding and beautiful sightings of giraffe.

If you are looking for a place all to yourself surrounded by the beautiful African nature with a view on giraffes where you can make your own braai inside or outside or get cozy in front of a fireplace in the living room, then this is a great option also for the whole family! Our driver Edwin who is a very kind guy living there with his family took us each day with his safari vehicle 20 minutes through the reserve to the accommodation - each time we got to see beautiful animals of the reserve. Pretty sunrise in the morning too, which you get to see either way as the rooms get quite light.

Be aware that you can only leave this place from 7am to 5pm as it lies inside the Amakhala reserve. But as you are not a guest from Amakhala, you cannot join morning or evening game drives. Therefore, it is not possible to do sunrise or sunset safaris with this accommodation! We did do a great day safari in Addo tho.
