Marahau Retreat

Location, location, location! What a little gem of a hideaway up a tiny lane on the hill with mountain and long distance sea views and right on the edge of Abel Tasman NP, surrounded by nature. We had sundowners and nibbles out on the extensive deck both evenings. Full kitchen and cooking facilities and a laundry attached with washing machine and indoor clothes airer of which I took advantage. Very clean cottage and a vase of dahlias from the garden was a nice fresh touch. There was no one in the smaller unit next door so we were completely secluded. On cloudless nights stargazers will appreciate clear views of the galaxy and many birds abound. We were woken by cute, quirky wekas clucking outside the patio doors on the deck in the morning.

We loved it all although those averse to anything but “brand new”, even though scrupulously clean, may not be so happy. Ants and other insects may trouble some - you’re in nature - but keep food locked away and you’ll only encounter the occasional one or two.

We immediately felt in love with this cute little cottage in an absolutely idyllic location. Marahau is beautiful and has a much better vibe than Kaiteriteri, we are glad we ended up here. Good base for water taxi trips to the most beautiful beaches in Abel Tasman.

We loved our stay here. The location was perfect and views were breathtaking, the place was spacious and the hosts gave us great advice on what to do. Small touches really added to the stay: a fresh bouquet of flowers on the table, 7 different teas and coffees and a large patio with different seating. Definitely recommend.

Quiet retreat with stunning views from the terrace above the coast. Ideally located for visiting Abel Tasman NP. Nice host.
