Sondela is great family venue

Property is badly maintained. Toilet did not flush in one of the bedrooms. Shower did not drain in upstairs bedroom. Beds are lumpy and squeak if you turn.

Loved the 3 bedrooms, each with own private bathroom. Loved the spacious kitchen. The lapa with built in braai was a pleasant surprise. Liked the covered parking. Wildlife in abundance.

Matresses were extremely low quality,uncomfortable and noisy in all bedrooms.. Each room had a sliding door, one could not open and both the others struggled to open and close due to poor maintenance.

Braai area needs to be cleaned properly in lapa,cant use,very dirty..could not braai....kitchen oven very dirty..marks coming down with grease...electrical plugs wiring needs to be dbl checked...stove kept on tripping.eating utensils and drinking glasses not properly cleaned.

Great location

The furniture is dated, bed in one bedroom lumpy. Tap in kitchen sink leaked onto counter.

Rooms was big and spacious. Bedding was clean.

The WiFi did not work. The pots and pans were dirty, in cubborts. There were some things very outdated. There is no up keep of the villa, like chipped plates.

I would not recommend a stay at Makhato 17. On arrival, all seamed fine. When we switched on the oven, the earth leakage tripped and an electric burn smell hang all over the unit. We went to bed and when we woke up there were no power at any plugs. The reception was contacted at 0800 and the problem was reported. We were told that the problem will be attended to and that it will be fixed upon our return later the evening. Upon our return, nothing was done to resolve the problem. I contacted the manager on duty and he just said we should have contacted the owner and they can't help us. Nobody brought this under our attention. We were left without hot water to shower and weren't able to cook supper. Furthermore, the unit is not maintained properly as shown by the photos below. There were also no water at the basin in the boma. You will be better of staying in another unit than paying R2800 per night for this.
