Holiday home, Camelford, Cornwall

We had a wonderful stay at this chalet in Lanteglos, near Camelford. The chalet was clean, comfortable and situated in a lovely, quiet position, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the cosy lounge area was ideal for spending quiet evenings after a day of exploring. Although the hotel and pool facilities on the site were closed during our stay, this didn't detract from our holiday. The chalet itself had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well equipped with all the essentials, although we also made sure to enjoy some of the excellent local eateries during our visit. The location was excellent, with stunning beaches, coastal walks and picturesque Cornish villages all within easy reach. Having Bowood Park Hotel & Golf Club within walking distance was an added bonus, offering lovely scenery and a pleasant place to visit nearby. Overall, we had a fantastic and relaxing break and would happily return. We would highly recommend this chalet to anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful base from which to explore the beautiful North Cornwall coast.

Nothing - it was a perfect stay

When we got there the place had clearly not been cleaned for a while. The cleaner did arrive shortly after we did and cleaned - she said we had arrived early even though the booking said to check in from 2pm and I confirmed we would be there for 2pm. There were dead bugs, leaves and spiders everywhere and random holes in the wall. The tv was attached to the back of a door with trailing wires. I didnt even open the oven and couldn't bring myself to use the kettle. The beds were uncomfortable, there were missing bolts in the main bed and the frame was coming apart. The shower was complicated to use with no instructions and we had to have cold showers. There was a heated towel rail that we were unable to turn off in a heatwave - luckily we had taken our own fans. We only stayed 3 nights, although we had booked for 4. Overall very disappointing.

The location was beautiful and peaceful. The swimming pool was definitely one of the highlights and a big positive. However, some of the other amenities, like the indoor play area, appeared unused or not well-maintained. The washing machine was shared, and unfortunately, the tumble dryer was not working during our stay

There were also a few issues that I didn’t appreciate: 1. When we checked in, there was no toilet paper or dishwashing liquid provided. 2. I found spider webs in the house, which suggests it needs a deep clean—especially important when traveling with kids. 3. One of the bedroom lights was flickering. Although the owner responded when I contacted her on Saturday, the issue wasn’t resolved until Monday. Overall, the property has good potential and the setting is lovely, but it definitely needs more attention to cleanliness and maintenance.

Abundant hot water & a good shower swimming pool clean but unheated.

Little or no other facilities, as hotel has been closed since COVID. Remote parking with no lighting on narrow sloping path. This was a trauma for our older guest. Grass was cut but not collected, consequently it was transferred to the apartment. The apartment could do with an update. Microwave sounded as though it would explode. These were only some of our concerns.
