Near restaurants. Privacy good. Liked the patio and location of the braai. Near enough to beach to walk there

We are not used to gas geyser. Struggled a bit with temperature in shower. Slipfree mat in shower and grab rail would be convenient for older people and pregnant ladies

"Tried to downgrade my room twice"

The location is OK, just a short walk to the beach. The cottage itself is generally in a good shape.

After arrival a guy showed me my cottage and its two rooms. He then asked me to close one of the rooms as I am a solo traveller, but I resisted. That room he wanted to lock was much nicer than the other one, but the other one hosts the kitchen. 20mins later the guy said that they need to move me to another cottage, but it would be exactly the same arrangement. He then brought me to a much smaller wooden chalet. So I insisted to get the same cottage as before as I had paid for it. I finally got my cottage after they twice tried to downgrade my stay. When asking for directions to Namakwa National Park, they said they have no idea and no map (seriously?!). Well, fortunately Google was able to help out. The kitchen could do with one or two more pans, but with some fantasy one can cook there. All in all these are no big issues, but a smile and a "welcome" would have made a world of a difference. It felt like they didn't want solo travellers there, and the 1000 ZAR per night made it low value for money.
