Howzit Hostels Hawaii

I enjoyed this welcoming hostel in Hilo. It is in a great location downtown, and it is a great place to meet people on your travels. There was a variety of trips to join during the day which really helped if you did not have a car. Sarah was a great a "tour guide" and I felt safe with her driving the van. Mary, Sophia and Krystal were very kind and helpful at the hostel. The beds were comfortable and I enjoyed the curtain which provided additional privacy. The bathrooms, especially the showers were clean, and the hot water was plentiful. The kitchen was a good place to cook food, and there was a small seating area outside to enjoy (although the many motorcycles and blaring music from the cars was a little abrasive (not the hostel's fault)).

Sometimes it felt a little that I was hanging out at a sorority with the volunteers laying around and taking up all the comfortable spaces in the common area to hang out in the evenings. I really wish they offered a recycling bin for the cans and bottles, especially since Hawaii has a 5 cent deposit on them. If nothing else, it could be given to help the many homeless people in Hilo instead of being thrown away.

Set-up vs price

Teilweise nettes Personal, sauber, gute Lage, nette Geste mit Pancakes und Kaffee zum Frühstück, bei Interesse Angebot von sehr günstigen Ausflügen an der Rezeption.

Teilweise nicht so freundliches desinteressiertes/gelangweiltes Personal, jede Nacht sehr laut, sei es die Leute im Zimmer oder am Gang (ich war neben den Hygieneanlagen in einem Hochbett). Die Ruhezeit um 11.00 PM wurde eigentlich an keinem Tag eingehalten. Aufgrund meines Schlafmangel würde ich dort nicht mehr einchecken, dass wird aber bestimmt nicht immer gleich sein. Liegt an den Gästen und der Kontrolle vom Personal.

Great location! Comfortable accommodations with friendly staff.

Would be great if screens could be added to the windows. I was worried birds would fly in.
