As a solo female traveler all I can do is warn others not to do that, the cheap price is not worth it, the owner is super creepy and he made me feel very unsafe. As soon as I checked in I was already looking for a way to leave and I did after booking another hostel in the area

The property is a beautiful place and nicely organised for international travellers

Quiet and clean. I was the only one in a seven bed dorm. Staff friendly. Great potential but needs more love and care.

Door locks not good, no hot water in the shower. Place is a bit of a mess. Kitchen needs updating. Unusual vibe. 41 euro plus a 20 euro key deposit….. seemed a lot.

Gerry’s Backpacker was the cheapest option (50 euros) for the night I checked in. However for around 70 euros you can get a pretty double room right in the heart of Konstanz.

One of the hosts there Christine, was looking at me with angry face in the morning when I was giving her the keys of their so called double room. She did send me messages in German, and I don’t speak German yet.. we are tourist, as a tourist we can speak or don’t speak certain languages. I think this is understandable. One of the toilets was not working on the floor I was. The backyard view is industrial plus some trees. There was not towel to take a shower, so if you go there ask explicitly for a towel if you need one.

Cheap price, staff were friendly and helpful. Very basic interior but clean.

The wifi did not reach my room.

There are bed bugs!! One was crawling on the ceiling above the bed and one on the wall above the sink. I found nymph skins on the bed sheets as well. Needless to say, I left immediately. It's also noisy (you can easily hear the other guests through the walls/doors) and has only flimsy, see-through curtains on the windows. Overall, the building is quite run-down, and it's located in a rather seedy area very far from the city center.

Located just a 10 minutes walk and a subsequent 7 minutes train ride away from the city of Konstanz - for me, a person without a car. A clean, cosy and charming room, themed "South America". An extra large bed. A shared bathroom - but a water sink in the room. A kitchen to prepare meals in. A shopping center just around a corner to buy the groceries. The staff was very friendly, ready to help at all times. I forgot to fetch the deposit when checking out and they took the effort to send it to me. I definitively enjoyed my stay here.

An excellent starting point for a budget traveller to explore Konstanz. For me, a person without a car, the city center can reached by a 10 minutes walk to the train station Wollmatingen and a subsequent 8 minutes ride. I got bedbugs from this place. It was on my bed. They did sting me, so my whole body is covert. I also discovered 2 on my backpack after I already had left the hostel. It is a little bit run down.
